The wedding we didn't get to see.
.
Methas had always been the quiet type, his thoughts a soft hum beneath the noisy chatter of the world. His eyes, a calm brown, took in the bustling coffee shop with a gentle curiosity. He'd chosen this place, nestled in the heart of the city, for its anonymity. It was the perfect spot to watch people without being watched. As the barista called out an order, he glanced down at his phone, his thumb hovering over the screen. It had been four years since he'd first laid eyes on Jj, and today, he was about to change both their lives forever.
Jj, on the other hand, was a tornado of energy. His laugh was infectious, and his smile could light up even the gloomiest of rooms. He bobbed his head to the rhythm of his favorite playlist, not a care in the world as he navigated the crowded sidewalks. Today was just another day, or so he thought. Little did he know that Methas had a surprise waiting, tucked away in the pocket of his jeans.
The coffee shop's warm scent wafted through the air, a mix of freshly ground beans and sweet pastries. Methas felt his heart race as he spotted Jj pushing through the door, his hair a wild mess from the wind outside. They'd agreed to meet here after work, a casual rendezvous that was about to become anything but.
"Hey, you made it!" Methas called out, standing up from the small table he'd managed to snag by the window. Jj's smile grew wider as he approached, dropping a quick kiss on Methas's cheek. "You look nervous," Jj said, taking a seat and eyeing the two cups of coffee already set out. "Is everything okay?"
Methas took a deep breath, his hand reaching for Jj's. "Everything's perfect," he said, his voice a whisper amidst the clinking of spoons and the murmur of conversations. "I just have something to ask you." His eyes searched Jj's, looking for any sign of what might come next.
Jj, ever the optimist, just grinned. "What is it, babe? You know you can tell me anything." The light in his eyes danced with innocent curiosity.
Methas's heart was pounding so loud he could hear it in his ears. "Jj," he began, "we've been through so much together. We've laughed, we've cried, and we've grown. And I know it's not the most conventional way to do this..." He took a moment to collect his thoughts, the anticipation thick like the foam on their cappuccinos.
"Methas, are you okay?" Jj's smile had turned to a frown, his hand squeezing Methas's in concern.
Methas took another deep breath, his heart feeling like it might leap out of his chest. "Jj," he said, his voice stronger now, "will you marry me?"
The coffee shop fell away, and all that was left was the sound of their breathing, the world outside fading to a blur. Jj's eyes went wide, his hand froze mid-sip. It was the question that had been on both their minds for months, but neither had dared to voice it aloud.
"Methas," Jj finally managed to say, his voice shaking, "are you serious?"
Methas nodded, his eyes never leaving Jj's. "More serious than I've ever been."
The silence stretched out between them, the air thick with unspoken hope. And then, the words that would change everything.
"Yes," Jj whispered, "I'll marry you."
Their kiss was soft, but the emotions behind it were a thunderstorm, years of love and fear and joy colliding in a single moment. The rest of the coffee shop faded away, and all that remained was the promise of forever.
Four months later, the wedding day dawned bright and clear. Methas and Jj had chosen a quaint garden venue, a place where the air was perfumed by blooming flowers and the only sound was the whisper of leaves in the wind. Plawan, Jj's man of honor, was a whirlwind of energy, fussing over Jj's tie and whispering last-minute jokes to keep him from getting too nervous. His eyes, a warm caramel, sparkled with unshed tears as he helped his best friend get ready.
