Adhir made a face, but couldn't resist their combined enthusiasm.Just as Adhir was leaving, Kunj asked for his phone, and Adhir handed it over without hesitation or inquiry.
Kunj was aware that Abhi would be desperately waiting to hear from him, and he knew that Abhi's mind would be filled with worry and uncertainty until they spoke. He knew that Abhi would be unable to rest or focus on anything else until he had confirmation that Kunj was safe. With this in mind, Kunj decided to call Abhi as soon as possible.
Earlier when kunj had borrowed a stranger's phone to call Abhi while he was still on his way home. As soon as Abhi answered, Kunj could sense the worry and concern in his voice, and he managed to tell Abhi that he was coming back home. However, before he could reassure Abhi further, the call got disconnected. Abhi had sounded extremely distressed and worried, and Kunj knew he would only become more anxious if he saw the news reports. That's why Kunj had earlier asked Adhir to inform Abhi about his safe arrival. Kunj was concerned that if Abhi saw the news reports, he would freak out and rush to the accident site despite the dangerous weather. That's why Kunj asked Adhir for his phone to call Abhi and thankfully it got connected. As soon as the call connected, Abhi's panicked voice burst through the line before Kunj could even say a word.
"Adhi, Kunj pohocha kya ghar? Uska phone bhi nahi lag raha hai! Yahan network bhi weak ho jaa raha hai. Pata nahi khan hoga! Tera idiot bhai! Aane doo usse... wapas tange tod deni hai maine uski! How careless he is! Barish start hone se pehle ghar nahi pohoch sakta tha kya? Bewakoof kahika..." Abhi rambled on, his concern evident.
Kunj cut him off, his voice hoarse. "Main hi bol raha hu, you bewakoof insaan! And I'm not an idiot, bewakoof, or careless!" Kunj was offended, his pride wounded, but Abhi was too caught up in his worry to notice that Kunj was offended. He only noticed the change in his friend's voice, the rough edges of illness slowly approaching."
A wave of concern washed over Abhi as he heard Kunj's voice on the phone, a faint hint of weakness that triggered more concern. They had been best friends for years, and Abhi knew Kunj inside out. By the slight change in his voice, Abhi knew Kunj was already falling sick, or worse, already sick.
Abhi's concern grew as he listened to Kunj's voice. He was deeply familiar with Kunj's behavior and could tell that something was off. Their friendship was built on a deep understanding, and everyone around them knew that they had always been each other's priority. Whenever one of them fell sick, the other was always there to care for them - no one else could handle them when they were unwell except each other. In Abhi's case, Akshara was the only exception, but even she knew that when it came to sickness, Abhi needed Kunj by his side.
