Author's POV

Mikhail kept looking at her without any expressions. He was waiting for this moment. He knew that she would come to him and he had trapped her accordingly.
He could have dragged her to the aisle like Leonardo but that's not him. What's the fun if the woman you want is not asking you to marry her. He loved this feeling. Poor little bird doesn't even know about his evil plans.

Marona waited for his reaction and her heartbeats increased. He was just staring at her with a file in his hands and lips set into a thin line.
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat while scratching her neck with shaking hands. Her shaky breathing was increasing.
He wasn't answering and she started feeling dumb. Before he could mock her, she decided to leave but she has no idea what she is going to do if she leaves his office without an answer.

She looked everywhere awkwardly with glossy eyes but not into his eyes.
"I am sorry, I'll leave!"
She breathed out and was about to get up.

"I didn't ask you to leave."
His tone was hard and she quickly sat down in fear.

She gulped when he closed the file and tossed it on his table carelessly.
"You didn't answer so thought you wanted me to leave."
She said meakly while looking at the file he threw on the table.

"I was waiting for you to faint..."
He mocked.
"But you didn't so I guess we can continue this conversation now or are you planning to faint?... Tell me accordingly, we can reschedule our conversation."

Her face was on fire after he mocked her. It's true that she faints whenever he comes in front of her after that warehouse scene.
"We can continue now... I am ready."
She looked at her lap and fiddled with her fingers nervously.

"What brought you here?"
He asked firmly.
"Tired of finding a potential husband, no one agreed?"

Her face was completely red by now. How can she forget that he has the potential to find out about her.
"I don't want to marry Leonardo..."
Tears fell in her lap.
"Damon looked kind enough to pity me... I just want to save my life."
She sobbed.
"If you are not ready then just tell me... I have been mocked by my life enough."

"Stop crying!"
He ordered and she quickly wiped her tears.
"I thought you hated me?"

She didn't react, just stared at her lap.
"Lovina told me, you didn't kill Jenna."

"But I tortured you."
He raised his eyebrows amused.

"But you didn't kill me."
She mumbled.

"I prefer eye contact when I am having a conversation, Amore... If you are not ready for conversation then you can leave and come back when you are ready."
He scolded not liking the way she was avoiding eye contact.

She forced her eyes to him.
"Sorry"

He smirked when she looked at him.
"What do you want from me?"
He asked.

"I don't want to marry Leonardo. Can you marry me and stop this?... I don't understand what to do."
Tears escaped her eyes like tab water.

She got alert when he got up from his chair and released a shaky breath when he stepped towards her and leaned against the desk in front of her.
"Do you know what you are asking for?"
He questioned with frown and she gulped.

"Marriage!"
She nodded and flinched when his thumb gently wiped away the tear from her cheek.

"Marriage!"
He crossed his hands over chest.
"You flinch just with my little touch and you want to marry me?"

She looked down in guilt, aware that he was right. How is she going to survive this marriage when she is so scared of him to this extent.
"I'll try to manage myself."
She mumbled.
