29. Mysterious?

Author's POV

Mikhail looked at her face as she groaned in sleep and mumbled something while snuggling close to him.
"Must be cursing me in dreams."
He chuckled while caressing her head.

Marona was too tired to understand where she was and she was doing. She was in deep sleep after getting exhausted to her limits.

Mikhail smiled when she hugged him like a baby, she looked so innocent and pure. He realised what he was missing all these years.
He gathered her in his arms and kissed her forehead.

"You look beautiful when you smile."
His smile fell when he looked at the Mallika who was sitting by the window.
"So you finally found your happiness."
Mikhail hugged Marona while trying to ignore her, thinking she would go away but she didn't.
"You are going beyond extends to have her... Remember what you said to me? You said that you will never make an effort for anyone to get love, now what happened?"

He groaned as she didn't disappear.
"Why do you sound so bitter?"
He frowned.
"You were not like this!"

"Because you are trying to avoid me."
She complained.
"You are my friend. We both had problems, we both suffered, we both cried together and we both shared our pains. You said you will always come to help me whenever I need you then where are you? You forgot me when you got rid of your problems, you are not even trying to find out about me!"

"I never said that I'll come for you... I don't even know how you look... We just shared our problems, Mallika. I don't owe anything to you."
He snapped at her.

"Looks like you still struggle to understand emotions, Leo... Remember what our talks meant, what it meant for you and what it meant for me."
She mocked.
"You are the worst friend."

Mikhail released a deep sigh and closed his eyes to calm his mind. He opened his eyes after some time and she was gone.
He couldn't tell why he was seeing them when he didn't have that much deep connection with them to hurt him mentally.

He ran his fingers through his hair sadly and then heard a cute voice.
"Are you sad again, Leo?"
He frowned at the little girl who was sitting on the bed near his feet with her Micky Mouse soft toy.

"Why are you here, Devi?... I am not sad"
He replied grumpily.

She huffed.
"Ohh, Leo! You still don't deal with your emotions properly. If you wouldn't have been sad then you would have not called me."
Mikhail looked at Marona who was sleeping peacefully in his arms.
"Is that your wife? Can I see her?"
She asked excited.

Mikhail covered Marona's face with bedsheets while hiding her.
"You are an illness, stay away from her."

"You are still mean"
She huffed while pulling the ears of her toy.
"Anyways, you can't deny the fact that you love talking to me and that's why you call me whenever you are sad."
She giggled.
He sighed. She is right, Devi is easier to talk than Mallika. Maybe because Mallika is more bitter as a teenager and Devi is a small sweet little girl.
"Okay, now tell me quickly why you are sad so I can leave."
She asked.

"Mallika was upset."
He replied in daze.

"Ohh!"
She nodded in understanding.
"What does she wants?"

"She wants me to find her, check on her how she is and what she is doing."
He replied annoyed.
"Now don't say that I should do it because I don't have time. Mallika is demanding, I never promised her anything."

Marona groaned in his hold and removed bedsheets from her face as she started feeling hot. Mikhail lowered the temperature of the room and caressed her head so she could fall back to sleep.
