The people were still in a festive mood. I walked around the marketplace to see thousands of stands still selling flags with the sun symbol of the empire. I guess Aias' birthday really was a big deal.
"Skewers, get your skewers!" A voice of an elderly man caught my attention, and I turned my head to see a stand with... skewers. I haven't eaten a skewer in so long. It must've been a few days before I died in my past life that I ate one.
"Are those honey garlic chicken skewers?" I called out to the man as I neared the stand.
"The best in town!" He responded, a smile on his face.
I examined the skewers. They did look really good, maybe I should get some.
"How much for two?" One for me and one for Harriet who should be getting back in a bit with the stuff I asked her to buy.
"That will be four bronze coins!" Hm.. I only have gold coins on me, dammit. How many bronze coins is a gold coin? I have no idea.
"Will this do?" I showed a gold coin, and I'm guessing it would, judging by how his face lit up.
"That's... you're overpaying, ma'am."
"I know, but I only have these on me and I'm really hungry, can't you make an exception?"
"I... I couldn't possibly!" Oh come on!
"Please?"
"Fine... thank you so much." He sighed. He must think I'm testing him to see if he'd accept. Lucky for him, I'm not my father.
He handed me the two skewers, and I thanked him, taking them in my hands. Now where is Harriet? She should be back by now, so where is she?
I wandered around the market place, checking inside a shop every few ones I passed. I stopped infront of a dark alleyway. Could it be that she was robbed? Should I go in there? I have no weapons though. Im practically asking to be robbed if I do go in there. But then again, what if Harriet is in there and in the middle of getting robbed?
I cursed myself, taking the last bite of my skewer stick, throwing it in a nearby trashcan and making my way inside the alley.
"Harriet? Are you in here?" No response. This place is like a maze.
"Harriet!" I shouted a bit more loud. I suddenly heard fast footsteps in the alley across from me. Turning the corner, a petite woman bumped into me.
