I've never really been a huge fan of hiking. Not in my past life, not in my current one, not in any, I'm sure. It's just one of my flaws. So you can imagine how much I was dreading this hike and yesterday's hike up the mountain.
"Are we there yet?" I called out to Aias, who was a few feet infront of me, for the seventh time this hour.
"Ask me that one more time and I'm throwing you to the wolves." Wolves?!
"What wolves?!" I practically ran to get closer to him, but his snicker caused me to stop dead in my tracks.
"Very funny, asshole."
I was looking at the ground, frustrated, when I bumped against a tr- no, a wall- wait, what wall?
I looked up to see Aias in front of me. Hah. Now who's tired? He's probably gonna ask me if we can stop to re-
"You're gonna freeze to death, idiot." Huh? I looked down to see my coat had been unbuttoned without me noticing.
Aias reached down and buttoned it, tying the belt around it tight; almost too tight. Goodness, this man wasn't joking about wanting to kill me.
But I guess it was a kind act. I have to return it, right? I got on my tiptoes, reaching up and behind his head, pulling his coat's hood up, as he tied my coat tighter. I secured it on his head, making sure to cover it up, and I realised his hair was still damp from the rain that soaked us a few minutes ago.
"Your hair is wet."
"Mhm." He hummed in affirmation, causing a scowl to take over my face expression. Did this man want to die and leave me alone in this cold? And they say princes can't be selfish.
He finally finished fixing my coat and other clothing to keep me warm, wrapping my scarf around my neck as it had gotten loose, and hiding my face, leaving only my nose and eyes to be visible.
"Aias, your hair is wet."
"I know." Is this guy trying to annoy me? What to use... oh, I got it!
I took the end of my scarf in my hand, tip toeing to reach his hair, as I placed my free hand on his shoulder for support. He helped by securing his hands on my waist so I wouldn't fall - granted, the snow wasn't as steady as concrete or wood, - and I wiped his hair dry with my scarf, making sure it's all dry before relaxing. His hands dropped to his side, and I released a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Right then! Let's get going." I walked past him, and it wasn't long before I heard his footsteps behind mine. I was a bit surprised he didn't stop me from getting close, or helping him. I was also surprised he didn't kill me right there where he got the chance. Though I guess I'll have to let go of that worry. I already have gotten rid of that worry ever since... ever since the hunting competition. I just didn't want to admit it.
