To say the battle in the east was hard was an understatement - along with the monsters that descended the mountaintops, I had noticed a few knights of mine being possesed and attacking me. Not that I was surprised, hell, I was expecting it, but that doesn't mean it didn't fuck up the expierience. For me to have to come here and fight, it means that this year the danger period is worse than usual, and on top of that I have to be cautious with everything else - the food I eat, where I sleep, where I train. I can't let my guard down and it's been exhausting me.

Apart from that, though, nothing else has happened. I've responded to a few letters from Althea after she so nicely demanded that I let her know if anything strange happens. It seems that to her 'strange' means literally anything related to the spirit.

That's exactly what I was doing right now.

I looked down at the words in black ink written by now her, and I could already imagine what they were saying.

Regardless, I began reading from the top.

  Your highness,

I'm writing you to hear your progress. I hope you're reading this in your office - or whatever can be considered an office in the battlefield -  and not somewhere where you're not focused. I need to know if theres any new attacks. Send me a reply as soon as you get this letter, and do not dismiss it. Hope you're not dead, it wouldn't benefit me right now.

-A

PS. I don't wanna know about how annoying your knights are being, stop telling me.

I almost laughed at the last sentence.

To my surprise, throughout the last few days, I've found a way to complain about the knights to Althea. Not that I dislike my men, they can just be very pushy, especially when getting drunk. Never though I'd talk to her for something other than business or banter, but I'd never thought I'd have a furious spirit hunting me down because I ruined it's chances of killing it's victim, so, honestly, what haven't I witnessed in this life?

I picked up the pen beside me while taking out a letter paper from my desk's drawer, and began to write back a reply.

       Lady Althea,

I'm doing well, thanks for asking. No new attacks have happened, atleast not on me directly. I have suspected a few soldiers of being possesed, but they've only shown brief signs. I'm not dying, so stop worrying your pretty head about it.

I signed my signature below my name, folding the paper and placing it inside a envelope before stamping it with the imperial symbol.
