I watched as Althea used my sword as a support to rest. It was a bit ironic. We've been in the carriage for almost five hours, and she was currently using the hilt of my sword, that she told me I was 'deprived of' to rest her chin. Apparently, she believed I'd try to assasinate her while she wasn't looking. And though I did not put it past me; the consequences would be a real headache, with everything I got on my plate. And, well, we still had that fucker to kill - or exorcise, that sadly, without her I can't completely get rid off.

Her head started to plummet towards the carriage's floor before she awoke, shaking the sword out of my grasp and pointing it against my neck.

"What.are.you.doing?" I raise my hands up in pretend surrender at the sound of her stern voice and her piercing glare.

"I was trying to take back my sword that you were sleeping on." I reply, and her eyes widen in embarassment. She slowly lowers the sword, head hung low as she gives it back to me.

"If you try anything I'll make sure to make your death as painful and slow as possible." She's glaring again, but it isn't long before she diverts her gaze to the window, looking outside.

  "How long until we're there?"

"We've barely left the palace" I shoot her a bored look.

"Right..." she trails off after that.

"It shouldn't be long until we stop so the horses can feed and we can rest." Thankfully, the palace has other, smaller palaces spread throughout the empire for this reason alone. In case of an emergency, or just to rest, we have castles full of staff for trips like these.

"I doubt I can get any rest with you around." She says with a sigh, and I roll my eyes, regretting all the times I saved her life.

"Hey asshole, wake up, we've reached your first... palace or whatever it is." Althea's voice stirred me into consciousness. I was laying on the cushioned couch of the carriage, one hand draped over my eyes as protection from the sun, and she sat across from me looking outside towards the gates of the palace as she very kindly informed me that we arrived.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm up." I replied with a groan, my voice deeper from the slumber.

The carriage eventually rolled to a stop, a knight opening the door, letting me out before I reached my hand out for Althea to climb out. This stubborn woman eyed it with boredom, holding onto the carriage's wall instead to support her as she climbed out, flipping her hair as she walked towards the entrance.
