Over the past two weeks, Isabella enjoyed the company of her family friends. She grew especially close to Sofia and Gabriella. The three often stayed up late, chatting and even having sleepovers in the Romano mansion.

The morning, Isabella woke up, freshened up, and headed downstairs for breakfast. It was her day off from college, but something felt different. For the past two days, she had noticed that everyone seemed to be ignoring her. It wasn’t intentional, though everyone was preoccupied with planning a grand surprise for her birthday, including inviting other mafia families and their business associates.

She settled into her usual seat at the table and served herself a pancake with chocolate syrup. She started eating slowly, the others were busy chatting in Italian, a language she didn’t understand but was eager to learn.

"Voglio la festa migliore perché è il compleanno della mia unica figlia". Leonardo declared firmly.

(I want the best party because it’s my only daughter’s birthday.)

"Farò la sua torta di compleanno ed è ultima". Luc said in a tone that left no room for argument.

"La porterò a fare shopping dopo colazione e nessuno si unisce a noi, è definitivo". Matteo announced, glaring at everyone.

(I will take her for shopping after breakfast, and no one else is joining us. It’s final.)

"Parlerò con gli chef per preparare il suo cibo preferito domani; tutto il giorno mangeremo tutti il suo cibo preferito". Elio added, earning nods from everyone.

(I’ll talk to the chefs to prepare her favorite food for tomorrow. We’ll eat only her favorite dishes all day.)

"Papà, quando nostro cugino e tutti stanno arrivando?" Aurelio asked his father.

(Dad, when are our cousins and everyone arriving?)

"Stanno arrivando questo pomeriggio, ma assicurati di portarla di notte. Tutti si nasconderanno da lei fino all'inizio del suo compleanno". Leonardo replied, smiling at the thought.

(They’re arriving this afternoon, but make sure to keep her out until night. Everyone will hide until her birthday starts.)

"È un'ottima idea". Aurelio agreed.

"Matt, non comprare un vestito di compleanno per lei; tua zia l'ha già preparato". Leonardo instructed Matteo.

(Matt, don’t buy a birthday dress for her. Your aunt has already taken care of it.)

"Sì, papà". Matteo replied with a smile.

"Andre, hai invitato la famiglia Russo?" Elio asked.

(Andre, did you invite the Russo family?)

"No, pensavo che papà l'avesse già fatto". Andreano replied, glancing at Leonardo.

(No, I thought Dad had already done that.)
