Can't Fix This

Karina slowly opened her eyes and looked around. She remembered what had happened last night. She and Y/n had slept together. That would explain why she felt an arm around her waist. She slowly and gently moved his arm and got out of the bed. The only clothing she had on was her panties. At least now she had confirmation that they didn't have sex.

She saw the clothes she wore yesterday sitting in the chair Y/n tossed them in. She quickly went to the bathroom to freshen up while he was still in the bed.

After a few minutes, she stepped out of the bathroom and Y/n was sitting up in his bed. He was awake now, but she didn't know if he remembered last night. "Y/n?" She called out to him. He turned his head to face her. "Karina?" He asked. "Do you remember me?" She asked as she walked over to him. "When we were younger, you didn't eat cereal because your mom told you that was the reason for period cramps." He said with a smirk.

"Haerin told you about that!" She said as she started to lightly hit him. "Yeah and you really missed out. Also, why'd you ask if I remembered you?" He spoke. She was partially afraid of this question. He definitely had his old memories back, but she didn't know if he had memories of last night.

"After... you got shot... the doctor said you might have mental side-effects. One of them was amnesia. And for the entirety of yesterday, you didn't remember anyone." She explained. "Not even Haerin?" He asked. "No one..." She said. "Aw, shit." He said as he sat down, holding his head in his hands. "... Before it got too late out, I took you to Lia's place because Winter thought a true love's kiss might fix you." She said. Y/n immediately looked up at her with narrowed eyebrows.

"Relax! She didn't kiss you. She told me that taking you to locations that meant something to you might be the push your brain needed to kick itself back into gear. So I took you to the park where you met the guys, the bowling alley where you met Lia, and here... where you met me." She explained. "Oh, so we didn't sleep together? That was strongly implied by my clothes just being on a random chair." He said, a hint of relief in his voice.

When he said that, she felt a sharp pain in her chest. He didn't remember last night. But she did. The night they had was so perfect. Filled with the love she thought they held for each other in their hearts. But apparently, he didn't.

"No, we didn't. After we got back from the bowling place, you practically collapsed onto the bed after getting undressed. I didn't bother trying to wake you up so I slept in another bed." She said, trying to hold back the tears. "Phew. Okay, I'll get dressed so we can head back." He said as he got up and walked past her and to the bathroom.

The moment she heard the bathroom door close, she fell to her knees, finally letting out the river of tears that formed in her eyes the moment she realized he didn't remember. And it wasn't like she could tell him. He was relieved when he found out they didn't sleep together. Which must mean that he doesn't like her. But if he didn't like her, then how did the kiss even work? The two people involved have to love each other right?

Despite Karina bawling her eyes out, Y/n didn't hear a thing. Too busy being in his own world, but she couldn't blame him. Not his fault he didn't remember the kiss. And it wasn't his fault that he didn't love her the way she loved him.

"Alrighty!" Y/n said as he opened the door and stepped out. Karina quickly got up and collected her bearings and tried to act natural.

"I'm ready to go, you okay?"

"Peachy."

The walk back had been the most tense thing Y/n had gone through, and that's saying a lot. Karina didn't say a word, she just kept her eyes on the road as they walked. Y/n had honestly started to wonder if he'd done anything wrong. Did his amnesia hit her that hard?
