Hate Between Lovers

As me and Y/n left the office and entered the elevator, I wanted so badly to say something. Anything to explain myself, but I felt so trapped.

"Know what the worst part is?" He suddenly spoke as he looked at me with tears rolling down his face. "I did love you Karina. That's why I came here. To tell you how much I loved you. How much I thought about you. How much I wanted to kiss you every time I saw you." He said. With every word, I felt myself nearing the brink of a breaking down. "And then when I got here, I saw that." He spoke, his voice breaking as he finished.

"Y/n, I do love you." I managed to get out. "But you love Kai more?" He asked. "No Y/n I love you. With every cell in my body, I love you Y/n. But..." I couldn't find the words. He looked at me with tears in his eyes.

Before any more words could be said, the elevator stopped at the ground floor. We both stepped off of it and quickly left the building. 

"Stay here, I'll call Hyunjin to pick us up." He said as he got his phone and walked a short distance for more privacy. 

When he walked away, I sat on the stairs that led to the building and just started to cry. After everything we'd been through, learning to do handstands at 9, staying up all night playing their PS2 when we were 6. And when we both caked each other at our 13th birthday parties. Here we were, two people who had once been the best of friends, who had once been lovers, were more distant than galaxies.

"Okay. He said he'd be right over." Y/n said as he walked over to me. "Okay." I said softly. He stood leaning against one of the pillars holding the building up as we waiting for Hyunjin to get us.

After around 15 minutes, Hyunjin showed up in his car. "Here you guys are!" He said as he got out and walked over. "Wait, tell me something only you would know." He said to Y/n. "When we first met, it was because you tried to rizz up a girl by asking for her insta, but her parents were too strict an-" "Okay, it's you!" Hyunjin quickly cut him off before they hugged each other. 

"Where'd you two go yesterday?" He asked as he pulled away from the hug. "Uh, it's a long story." Y/n deflected. "Alright, let's go. Haerin's waiting for you." He said before we walked over to his car and he drove away.

Me and Y/n were both in the back, since Hyunjin had some cluttered items in the passenger seat.  No one said a word. Hyunjin was playing music, yet it felt like the car was silent enough to hear a pin drop. Y/n's words replayed in my head like a song I couldn't get rid of. He loved me. He truly did love me. But Kai had ruined everything. His hopeless obsession with me had cost me Y/n.

After another 15 minutes, we arrived at the resort as Hyunjin parked in the driveway. "Go on ahead buddy." Hyunjin said as Haerin was already waiting on the porch for her brother. Me and Y/n got out, but as he walked over to Haerin, Hyunjin stopped me.

"What happened between you two?" He asked. "What do you mean?" I asked. "You disappeared yesterday and now, not only does he have his memories back, he's also on the outs with you. What happened?" He asked. "We... fell for each other." I said. "Then why is he pissed at you?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I took him to the hotel where me and him first met. We spent the night there. While we were walking back to the resort, I got a call from my father. He needed to see me at one of his buildings. When I got there, he told me that I was basically in an arranged marriage with Huening Kai... and Y/n showed up and heard everything." I finished as I felt a tear trickle down my face. 

"Oh... I'm sorry Karina, I..." He started, but couldn't find the words. "Not your fault. I can't even tell him the truth. I literally had to stop him from murdering Kai. And now he thinks that I was just stringing him along. He won't even look at me." I said as I held my head in my hands.

"Do you love him?" Hyunjin asked. "With every cell in my body." I said as I looked up at him. "Okay. I don't know how, but I'm gonna figure something out to help you two." He said before we both walked into the resort.

Narrator POV

Karina practically teleported to her bed the moment she walked into the resort. She didn't speak to anyone, didn't get anything to eat, she didn't even put her pajamas on. She just got right into the bed and went under the covers. Y/n followed a similar pattern. Despite everyone wanting to speak to him, he used the excuse of "being tired" to go to his bed.

"Um, what just happened?" Giselle asked as Y/n and Karina went to their rooms. "They both confessed, that's what." Hyunjin said. "They confessed??" Winter asked with raised eyebrows. "Karina told me: When she and Y/n left yesterday, they went to a hotel... and spent the night there. That's how he got his memories back. But while they were walking back here, Karina had to detour to one of her father's companies. When she arrived, she was told by her father that she was in an arranged  marriage with Kai, the same Kai that hates Y/n. And Y/n heard everything. So now, he doesn't want anything to do with her, and she doesn't know what to say, to get him to listen." Hyunjin explained.

"So they do love each other?" Han asked. "Yeah, but Kai's meddling fucked it all up." Hyunjin finished. "We've gotta do something." Haerin said. "Tomorrow, on Christmas. We need to plan something so they can reconcile. And we need to get that marriage thing dealt with too." Hyunjin said. "My dad's a good friend of Karina's dad. I'll ask him to schedule a meeting." Giselle spoke.

"So here's the plan..."
