It was rather easy for Camryn to get into the carriage. While Whitney had everyone rushing around because of the short notice she had plenty of time to squeeze through the door. Camryn opened it carefully and quickly shut it behind her. The carriage was adorned highly with jewels and carvings covered in golden paint. Flat cushions sat on the two sides of the carriage. Camryn sat down on the side facing away from the driver. The red pillow sagged down slightly by her weight. Now all she could do was wait. It seemed she was doing that a lot.

Hold on Ransom we're coming for you. Just hold on.

It was funny to watch all the people rush around trying to prepare for the unexpected trip. Whitney had first told Halt that she was going to visit Kyle and that she needed him to go with her. Her parents fully trusted him so he was the best choice. Besides Whitney trusted him too. Halt nodded to her and quickly left to yell at his men to prepare for the trip. Next Whitney went to the kitchen to request food for the trip. The head chief showed her out of the kitchen gruffly. He was not happy about having to prepare food for a whole trip in an hour or so. The maids were a little nicer about the unexpected trip. They even asked her if she needed help packing. She told them that she had already done it. Soon everything was packed and assembled. The princess's carriage was in front. Then the maid's carriage. Halt and his guards were stationed around the carriages. At last, they were ready to head out.

"Whitney Whitney!"

Whitney rushed to her mother. "Don't worry Mother. I'll be fine and so will you."

Her mother wrapped Whitney in a tight hug. "I know. You're not a little girl anymore but I'm not sure I'll be fine."

"Mother," she laughed. Queen Ebony let go of her daughter and made her promise to return. "I will. I promise. Don't worry." Every time she visited friends, her mother acted like this.

King William smiled and kissed the top of Whitney's head. "Have a good time and relax. Don't worry about us or our problems. Take care of yourself."

Whitney grabbed his big strong hands in hers. "I will Father. I love you both."

Halt opened the door to her carriage and helped her up. Whitney waved through the small windows on the side of the carriage. Her parents looked proud. Whitney was happy. All that she could ask was to make them proud of her. She wanted to be a good daughter but was worried about the future and if she could keep that up. So much was happening and one day she might do something again that would make them disappointed.

The carriage started to move down the road on the somewhat long journey to Kyle's castle. They would have to go to Springwick to use the Launch Port. That would take them to Emden, the small town that grew up around the Thornfield castle.

"Whitney, how long will this trip be?"

Camryn surprised her. She had forgotten she was with her in the carriage. "It will take about half of the day. We should make it before dinner."

"Thanks." Camryn looked out of the carriage window. Tall green trees grew all along the road and there wasn't much else to look at so she turned her attention to the people in their group. The Guard Master, Halt, rode atop his black war horse. His saddle was a dark brown. Halt sat straight up in his saddle as he issued commands to the rest of the group. Behind him marched a few guards. They wore the traditional uniform of the Hart castle. Four white horses pulled the carriage that they were riding in. A young man with curly black hair sat in the driver's seat. Four pairs of reigns sat in his hands. His face was set in a confident expression. Camryn spun around so she faced the back. Another carriage a lot like this one but with fewer decorations followed behind. Four brown and white painted horses pulled the carriage. Another young man drove those four horses. More of the uniformed guards walked along the sides and back of the group.
