"Whitney is that their castle?" A glorious dark gray castle rose above the busy town. A thick brick wall encircled it. The town that had grown up around the castle was made mostly of grand houses and shops.
Whitney glanced out from behind the curtains. "That's the castle. I'll be so happy when we finally get to talk to Kyle."
"Me too." Camryn stared out of the window as the carriage drove through the town to the castle. She was invisible so none of the passing people would notice her but they definitely noticed the princess. Halt kept shouting at the crowd to stay away from her. His guards created a wall of bodies to block them from the carriages.
Whitney tapped her friend on the shoulder. "Follow right after me. It will be the safest and most reliable way to get in. I wouldn't call you out if I tripped over you or something. Anyone else would."
"Got it. I'm going to trip you."
Whitney rolled her eyes. "Right, that's definitely what I said."
The town was soon out of view from inside the wall. All-over stalls were filled with horses. Men and women rode around on the horses training them. A few younger kids carried buckets with water and feed to the stabled horses.
"Horses are the animal of this royal family. They train and breed them. These are the fastest horses in the whole country."
Camryn gazed longingly as she watched the horses run around. They reminded her about Ransom. He loved horses. Ransom would love it here. They passed under a stone archway and through another gate to get into the actual castle. The carriage lurched to a stop.
"We're here. I'll talk with the family, then they'll take us to a room. After that, we can talk with Kyle." All that Whitney had predicted came true. Halt helped her down out of the carriage. She held the door open a bit longer than she needed so Camryn could sneak out. She slid out and dashed behind Whitney. The horse drivers drove the carriages away so they could take care of the horses. The guards took the trunks and the maids trailed behind the princess.
Queen Bell and King Raymond greeted the princess wholeheartedly. It was odd for royal families to have stiff grand performances with other members of royal families because they all knew each other so well. Camryn trailed right after Whitney. The maids were a few feet after her. The guards were spread all around them so if Camryn needed to get away it could get a little tricky. Halt stood just by the princess's side.
"Whitney it's so good to see you."
She smiled at the queen. Queen Bell was not the talkative type but was very caring for the people around her. She knew when to speak up and when to keep quiet. Her husband on the other hand could get himself in trouble because of his brute honesty. He used to be a beast so that can be excused.
"It's good to be here Your Highness."
King Raymond smiled a toothy grin. "You must be tired. We'll let you get settled in before we catch up."
Whitney was overly thankful. "Thank you. I'm very tired."
The room they stayed in was as big as Whitney's at home. The queen-sized bed was in the middle of the room with a wardrobe in the corner. Soft quilted blankets that told the fairy tale stories lay on the bed. Two big feather pillows were placed at the head of the bed. The bathroom was in a side room around the corner. A door was connected to another smaller room for the maids to sleep in. The most famous feature of this castle was the collection of books that made up the world's biggest library. Bell opened it up to the public every week.
"Princess, do you need my assistance anymore?"
Whitney shook her head. "No, thank you, Halt. Go deal with whatever you need to deal with." The Guard Master bowed and smiled before he disappeared.
