"I can't believe we did it," Camryn jumped up and down in excitement her hands flapping at her sides. She and Ransom were free. Kyle had proven them innocent of the attack. They had already returned the crown and Ransom spent enough time in prison for the both of them. They were in the same room as before.
"I'll be so happy to see the sky again." Ransom smiled brightly. It warmed Camryn's heart to see him so happy after so long. Whitney paced back and forth in the small room.
"Whitney, what's wrong?"
She sighed. "I'll be happy if my parents don't sentence me to Pyrahelm for this whole stunt."
Camryn laughed at her disarray.
"Don't laugh at me."
Camryn just laughed harder.
Her friend collapsed into her arms. "What am I going to do? They're on their way here. I'm so dead."
Camryn rubbed her hands up and down Whitney's back. "You don't know that."
"I do. I never thought to plan this far ahead and now it looks like I'm the one headed to prison for life."
At this, the boys started the chuckle. Kyle clasped his hands behind his back. "If you do get sentenced to life in prison I'll make it my duty to get you out."
The princess turned bright red but smiled and said. "Thank you I just might need that."
"Oh, Whitney." Queen Ebony's eyes had been red from crying and her cheeks puffy. "I was so worried when Bell sent a messenger telling us you disappeared." She wrapped her daughter in a hug.
Whitney hugged her back with all her might. "Mother I'm so sorry. I think I need to explain."
"You're right young lady." King William towered over the rest of the people in the room. He scolded them all. "When Bell later told us you had gone to Ransom's trial. My heart just stopped."
Whitney comforted her mother to the best of her ability. "Mother I'm so sorry I won't ever disappear again. I promise." By now she was crying along with her mother. King William took Queen Ebony from the princess and helped her sit down, whispering to her that everything was fine. Whitney was safe now.
King William turned to the two non-royals. "Where have you two been?" He asked this more like a condensed father than a worried king.
Ransom wrapped his arm around Camryn's shoulders. "I've been here and Camryn has been at your castle and then at Kyle's."
The king's eyebrow raised. "My castle?"
Camryn gave Whitney an apology look. "I was staying at your castle for a night then traveled with Whitney to the Thornfield castle."
King William looked at his daughter. "My guess is you knew about the whole thing and might have even planned it all."
The princess looked ashamed. "Yes, Father. I didn't want to tell you or Mother because you two would get in trouble."
He rose and took his daughter's hands in his own. "That doesn't matter. You can tell us anything especially if it includes disappearing on us. You gave us quite a fright." He turned to Kyle who had faded into the shadows. "Kyle your parents didn't seem too worried but they said to tell you that you will be punished when you get home."
Kyle groaned but didn't say anything.
Kyle bowed to the king, queen, and princess. "I'll see you soon Whitney at the Royal Ball. Even with everything going on, they haven't canceled it. I'll also drop Destiny off at your castle just in case you need her again."
