Night came and went. Morning appeared too soon. Neither girl wanted to get out of bed. Neither wanted to face the challenges that were ahead of them.

"Come on Whitney. We have to get up." Whitney just stuffed a pillow over her head. "Okay, fine. If you want only a few minutes to get ready be my guest but we're not waiting for you." Camryn went to slip her feet into her boots. They had to be quiet or the princess's maids would wake and then they could never get away. Camryn completely ignored her hair this morning because the braids were still nice.

"Uh," Whitney groaned still in bed. "Fine, I'll get up but don't talk to me."

Camryn didn't which was fine. Instead, she helped Whitney into a pair of men's clothes that they had thought to pack.

"These feel so weird."

Camryn shrugged. "I always wear pants."

"They're weird."

Sneaking through the castle was rather easy. Everyone was still in bed and most of the guards were finishing their shifts so they were distracted. Kyle waited for them right where he said he would. Instead of his adorned jacket, he wore a simple black coat with black pants. The reigns of two horses were in his hands. Packs lay on the back of the horses with food and water. Destiny whined when Camryn came up to pet her.

"Hey, Destiny. I'm sorry he's not here with me. We're going to save him."

Kyle raised an eyebrow. "You know she can't understand you?"

Camryn ran her hand down the horse's soft back. "But even though she can't understand me she can understand Ransom."

He slipped his foot in the stirrup and lifted the other over the side of the saddle. Camryn helped Whitney up. Then the princess leaned down and helped her up. After they got situated Camryn vanished.

For most of the way the horses galloped. It was a rough ride for the girls because they were bumping against each other. The trial was being held in the center of the country in the city called Adurant. When the royal families and fairy counsel were organizing where to put everything they had a few ideas. Either they could put everything in one city or separate the important things so that if anyone attacked they couldn't take out everything. They decided to put the museum and most of the stuff in the capital city of Candlewick but put the council in the biggest city, Adurant. The fairies liked the city better anyway.

Tall stone towers poked up out of the shops and houses. Tall arches stretched from one part of the city to another. The council building was in the center of the city. It rose out of the ground with many different levels. It was white and glistened in the sun. Even though it was also a prison for the criminals to stay in until they were taken to Pyrahelm it was still beautiful. How could something so gross on the inside could be so beautiful on the outside?

Camryn wildly whipped her head around her. No one paid much attention to the prince or princess. Kyle had decided that he and Whitney should put their hoods up. It would be easier to get to the council building without a crowd following them. They had work to do and didn't need the responsibilities that came with being royalty. The streets were relatively empty this early in the morning. The clop clop of the horse's hooves on the dry packed city street seemed to echo through the whole city. A light breeze blew through Camryn's hair and the sun above warmed her cheeks. She could smell apple pie from one of the houses down the street. She wished she could be eating apple pie right now with a loving family instead of this. But they had to do this or she and Ransom would be spending the rest of their lives in Pyrahelm. That just won't work. Whitney's back was warm as Camryn rested on it. Soon she would have to sneak into the court and hope she wouldn't get caught. All her faith was placed in Kyle's ability to convince the court that Ransom didn't start the attack but then what about all the things they did do? This legal stuff was complicated. If Kyle couldn't rescue Ransom? No, she won't think of that. He will. Everything will work out. They still have to stop their mothers. She couldn't do it by herself. Ransom has to help her. He will. Everything will be fine.
