Jungkook and Mingyu were lounging in Jungkook's room after a long day spent together as a gang. The video games had been fun, but after Mingyu lost yet again, they decided to turn off the console. The room fell into a comfortable silence, both of them lost in thought.

Mingyu finally spoke, breaking the silence, "It was nice what you guys did today. You know, cheering the girls up buying them stuff just to make them happy. You all really care for each other, huh?"

Jungkook leaned back, staring at the ceiling. "Yeah, well, it's not a big deal," he said with a shrug. "If they asked for the moon, we'd find a way to give it to them. That's just how it is."

Mingyu turned to face Jungkook, curious. "But why? You're not related, right? I mean, except for Jimin and Rosé being siblings. How did all of you end up so close?"

Jungkook sighed, thinking about how to explain something that had always felt so natural yet was difficult to put into words. "We aren't related by blood, no. But we grew up together. We bonded through all the shit we went through. It's like... all of us dealt with the same kind of trauma-our families, the abuse, the violence-and that made us stick together."

Mingyu nodded but still seemed unsure. "But still... isn't it strange? It's like you all chose each other over your own families."

Jungkook chuckled darkly at that. "If you asked any of us who we'd pick, the gang or our parents, we'd all choose each other without thinking. None of us had any love for our parents. They either abused us, neglected us, or made our lives hell. The only thing we had was each other."

Mingyu hesitated before asking, "What were your parents like, hyung?"

Jungkook's expression darkened as he stared out the window. "My mother was selfish. Always as high as a kite, always looking for her next fix. She wasn't a mother in any real sense. My dad... he wasn't as bad as Taehyung's old man, but he was still a piece of work. He'd hit my mom, not constantly, but enough to remind her who had the power in the house. They were both cheaters too, except my dad had a nasty habit of killing any man my mom was caught with."

Mingyu's eyes widened in shock. "That sounds awful, man."

Jungkook nodded, his face expressionless. "Yeah, it was a shitshow, but that's life in this world. You grow up quick. None of us had a real childhood. No love from our parents we only had each other."

The room was silent once again. Till Jungkook looked at Mingyu, his curiosity piqued. "What were your parents like?" he asked gently.

Mingyu hesitated for a moment, glancing at Jungkook before sighing. "My mom... she died when I was eight. It was during childbirth when Mina was born." His voice softened as he recalled the memory. "I don't really remember her much. After she got pregnant with Mina, she and my dad split up. I never really understood why. And during birth she died, it was all on my dad."
