Jungkook drove through the dimly lit streets, his knuckles white on the steering wheel. He kept glancing at Hoseok, who sat in the passenger seat with a bag of chips, casually munching away as if he hadn’t just taken a bullet the other day. The tension in the car was thick, but Hoseok’s nonchalant attitude only made it worse.
"Does it hurt?" Jungkook asked, his voice laced with concern, even though he tried to sound calm.
Hoseok shrugged, taking another handful of chips. "Of course, it hurts, but I’ll be fine. We don’t even need to go to the hospital. It's just a bullet wound."
Jungkook clenched his jaw. He hated when his older brothers acted like this. Every time one of them got hurt, it was like a knife to his own chest. Hoseok acting like it was nothing only made the knot in his stomach tighten.
"Hobi-hyung, this is serious," Jungkook said firmly, trying to keep his cool. "A bullet wound isn’t something you just walk off. What if it got infected?"
Hoseok scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Infected? Please. I’ve been shot before, and I’m still here. You’re making a big deal out of nothing, Kook."
Jungkook shot him a glare. "Yeah, we’ve all been shot before, but that doesn’t mean you should act like it’s a scratch! What if this time it’s different? You could be bleeding internally for all we know!"
Hoseok, unfazed, just sighed. "You worry too much, kook. I’m not dying. Trust me."
Jungkook pulled into the hospital parking lot, not willing to take any chances. He quickly got out of the car and rushed around to Hoseok’s side, opening the door. He gently helped him out, wrapping an arm around his waist to support him as they walked toward the entrance.
Hoseok winced slightly but kept his grin plastered on his face. "See? I’m walking just fine."
"Shut up," Jungkook muttered, his protective side showing. "Just because you can walk doesn’t mean you're fine."
Once inside, the hospital staff quickly took Hoseok in for examination. Jungkook paced back and forth in the waiting room, running a hand through his hair in frustration. Every time one of the boys got hurt, it felt like a part of him was in danger too.
About an hour later, the doctor came out, giving Jungkook a small nod. "He’ll be fine. The bullet didn’t hit anything vital, and there’s no sign of infection. It’ll take some time to heal, but he just needs rest."
Jungkook let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. Relief flooded through him, but he still felt a pang of irritation. He walked back to Hoseok’s room and found his hyung sitting up on the hospital bed, looking as carefree as ever.
"Told you," Hoseok said with a smirk. "Just a bullet wound."
Jungkook sighed, knowing there was no winning this argument. But deep down, he couldn’t help but feel that fear, that dread of losing one of his brothers. He sat down next to Hoseok, finally relaxing now that he knew everything would be okay.
"You’re still an idiot," Jungkook muttered.
An hour later, Jungkook and Hoseok walked through the front door of the mansion, their tired faces lighting up at the sight of the girls bustling around in the kitchen. The aroma of something delicious filled the air, making their stomachs rumble in anticipation. Jungkook helped Hoseok sit on the couch, making sure he was comfortable, before heading over to the kitchen.
“Hey ladies, what’s going on in here?” Jungkook asked as he leaned against the counter, watching Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa work with focused expressions. Rosé was setting the table nearby, humming to herself.
