CHAPTER TWENTY THREE
"It's just the beginning."

"Oh I see," Mrs. Hayashi nodded after Jaeyun explained a bit. "I saw the news and it was terrible. I hate how the authorities can be too powerful. She doesn't deserve all of those." He then thought a bit before asking the next question. "Did you know much about Sooah before she got adopted?"

She shook her head. "I got accepted into the Orphanage two weeks after she got adopted, but I did hear she was a very quiet girl. She doesn't talk much, only draws." Jaeyun nodded.

"There is this one staff member who knew her before then, but she resigned from the orphanage two months after Sooah got adopted," Mrs. Hayashi told him. "I can't give you the address to her house since it's against the contract and all."

"No, I completely understand. I am an attorney so I know the laws and all," he told her. She nodded, "Right." She thought for a minute or two before saying the next words. "Maybe the people who worked on her case years ago could help." She quickly stood up from her seat and went to her desk. Then she came back with four business cards. "Here are the four people who questioned me for the case."

Jaeyun politely took the business cards and put them in his pocket. Then he took out his business card. He wrote his personal number on the back of it. "Here is my office number and my personal number if you need anything." She politely took them. "Thank you, Jaeyun. I hope you get Sooah the justice she deserves."

"I will do my best to give her the justice she deserves." Mrs. Hayashi smiled before patting his back. "Take care of yourself as it can be dangerous, too." He nodded before bowing toward her. Then he walked out of the room. He saw Heeseung playing with some of the children. "Hyung!" His friend stopped what he was doing before turning towards the door. "You are finished?" Jaeyun nodded.

Heeseung said his goodbyes to the children before walking out of the building with his friend. They said their goodbye to Mrs. Han. "So how was everything?" Jaeyun turned to his friend. "Just a couple of talks. I have the business cards of that who took Sooah's case when we were in high school." His friend nodded. "I see, well that's the start." He nodded in reply.

Jaeyun leaned against his chair as he finished with his case for the day. He was reading over the new case. Pushing up his glasses, and reading every single word on the paper so there won't be any errors when he does the court part. It's about divorce between a wonderful family. The husband cheated on the wife for the past two years. His heart aches when he reads the case.

He is taking the wife's side of the case. Usually, he takes the victim of the case. The wife personally asked him to reopen this case since she didn't get the justice she deserved the first time. There is more to this case than he ever thought as he read through the papers.

He agreed with no hesitation after reading a bit of the case. He wants to do his best to win this round for his client. He has already won over 20 cases and lost only about 10 cases, but that was during his first two years of becoming an attorney. This time he took his focus on his cases and used all of his passion to win. He never gives up on any of his clients.

Even with how many sleepless nights and tired the cases can get, he was determined to win every single case he could for his clients as they trusted him. His clients were mostly women. A few were men. He took most of his breaks to read about the cases and get more evidence.

Taking his glasses before lightly pinching the top of his nose when he heard a knock on the door. "Come in!" He called out. The person quickly opened the door and stepped inside. He opened his eyes and saw it was his assistant, Sunoo. "How was work?" He asked the youngest.

Sunoo smiled at him as he put down the pile of papers that he was holding for his dear life on his boss's desk. "Modeling was nice. I got some good deals. Besides that, I got some more papers for this case and another. I already highlighted and marked what is important." Jaeyun nodded as he picked up one of the papers. He put back on his glasses before reading it. "Good work as always, Sunoo."

His assistant's smile grew even bigger. He awkwardly scratched his neck. "It was nothing. I love this job so much and also modeling." Jaeyun then put down the paper. "How can you do both careers?" Sunoo shrugged. "I only model a few a week and mostly an assistant for the most part. Plus I took breaks in between them if needed." "You did everything so perfectly and organized, thank you Sunoo," Jaeyun smiled. "It's my job as an assistant to help as much as I can," he told her.

"So what is the schedule this week?" Jaeyun asked Sunoo. His assistant quickly turned on his iPad before going through it. "Well, tomorrow and today you have some interviews with the police and the attorney the client had for the first time. We will be going to the police interviews first."

He stood up before grabbing his blazer. Making herself look presentable before walking out. "Lead the way, Sunoo." Sunoo nodded, walking in front of him. They went to Jaeyun's car. They drove to the police station as his assistant rambled about the modeling he had to do yesterday.

Once they had arrived at the station, they quickly went inside the building. "We are from the Sim"s Attorney Firm," Sunoo informed the receptionist. "Oh, you must be the attorney. The two police and investigators are waiting for you." The receptionist led them to a room. They knocked on the door before opening it and then talked to the people inside. Then they stepped aside. "Go inside, they are waiting for you."

Jaeyun looked at Sunoo. His assistant nodded before stepping aside. Jake went inside the room alone while his assistant waited in the hallway listening carefully behind the thin walls.
