Take me out of the past | Paige Bueckers

11: Brianna

The rest of the night was filled with more ice breakers, at this point the whole team loved Brianna and Brianna loved everyone on the team. Brianna and Paige still hadn't really talked, but in their multiple accidental eye contact moments, they had both silently agreed that they would make it work for the team and for the documentary, no words were shared between them but both girls knew that even they were no where near the level of beings friends, they could still be civil with one another.

"Ok final game before we wrap this up, musical chairs, I will be sitting this one out for obvious reasons." Geno exclaimed
"Coach it's because you're getting old, it's too risky, you might pop a hip" Paige said sheepishly, causing the team and Brianna to erupt in laughter. "Careful what you say Bueckers or you'll ride the bench for the first game of the season" Geno answered back whilst walking to turn the music on, obviously joking but it definitely made Paige go silent.

As the game continued, it got to the second to last round. The music stopped, Paige leaped to a chair and so did Brianna. KK looked as she wanted to scream, "ok boom so this isn't fair" she said in an annoyed voice as soon as she realised she was out of the round, the whole team laughed at her. The music turned back on, both girls walking around the singular chair, tensions were high as both girls wanted to win. It felt as if the music had lasted forever, going on and on and on, until it finally stopped. It took both girls a moment to realise the silence but as soon as they did, Brianna darted for the chair at the same time as Paige, Brianna technically sat on the chair first, but not for long. Paige's arms wrapped around Brianna's waist bringing butterflies to Brianna's stomach, Paige lifted Brianna off the chair and sat on the chair herself, still holding Brianna's waist and pulling Brianna into her lap momentarily before realising she was still holding Brianna, finally swiftly letting her go. Paige was surprised at herself, she let her competitiveness get the better of her, doing things without even thinking. Paige hadn't touched a girl like that in a long time, probably not since her ex girlfriend, and they had broken up the start of last year. Paige was shocked at her own actions, but it had felt so natural. When her and Brianna were best friends, they would always be cuddling, sitting in each others laps, resting on each others shoulders and just overall always so physical with each other. Paige never really liked physical touch but with Brianna, she craved it.

"Paige wins!" The whole team spilled out, bringing a smile to her face. Brianna pretended to be annoyed but soon congratulated Paige by giving her sweet smile, Paige returned the smile as a thank you. "Ok girls, you are free to enjoy your night, but I better see you at practice tomorrow morning" Geno said walking off to his office.

All the girls said their goodbyes to Brianna. The girls asked for Brianna's insta before leaving.

Brianna was walking back to her dorm, her phone giving her at least ten notifications all at once. The whole team began following her, so she followed them back. After a moment, she got another notification, Paige had followed her.The notification shocked Brianna but she decided to follow her back.

She got back to the dorm, Jules practically leaping at her as soon as she walked through the door, "how was it? What did you do? Was Paige there? Of course she was, that was a stupid question. Was it awkward? How are the rest of the girls? I need details" Jules spit out. "It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I'll explain everything later. I really need a hot shower right now"
