It was the beginning of the second quarter, Paige was hunched back tears falling uncontrollably out of her one eye. A girl had just hit her directly in the eye, the pain was overwhelming. The whistle blew and Paige made her way off the court so that she could collect herself. Geno was busy arguing with the ref so asked Brianna to take care of Paige. Brianna grabbed a tissue so the basket ball player could wipe the tears away and then grabbed an ice pack, hoping it would soothe the pain. "You're doing great out there!" Brianna smiled at Paige even though the blonde couldn't see because her vision was blurry, now delicately holding Paige's head as she pressed the ice onto her eye. Initially the blonde flinched but now she was thankful for the stupidly cold ice pack. "Thanks" Paige responded after a minute awarding her yet another smile from Brianna. Paige tried to smile back but panic filled her when she could feel her contact jammed in her eye. "Please help, hold my eye open I need to grab my contact." Brianna complied. The game had continued but Paige was currently focused on trying to find her contact, she was able to retrieve it and placed it in her palm. "Shit it's dried out." Paige let out. "I've got saline solution in my car, I can run and grab it." Paige nodded with a thankful look on her face.
Brianna ran out, on her way to her car. She was walking down the hallway when a man with a camera began following her, at first Brianna ignored him, he was probably on his way back to the court to film the game, but then he began to speak. "Brianna, Brianna bell right?" Brianna just ignored him. "Who are you to Paige? there's been dating rumours, can you confirm or deny? You're rocking her jersey tonight, does that have anything to do with her being your girlfriend?" The man said in an interviewing voice, causing Brianna's throat to close up, why was he so interested in Paige's personal life and personal relationships. Paige had never openly talked about dating anyone ever or even if she preferred women or not, but it didn't give the man the right to try dig something out. When Brianna didn't say anything, he used it as an opportunity to keep pestering her, "we know your history with Paige Bueckers and how you became close in high school, do you think she's changed due to her fame?" Brianna knew that he wanted to ask more but she couldn't take it anymore. "Why do you think you have the right to be digging into her personal life like that, boundaries exist for a reason and you're crossing each and every one of them, and to answer one of your stupid questions, Paige is the most humble person I know but you would know that if you spent even a second without your head up your ass." Brianna said in a steady tone, but portraying her annoyance well, well enough for the man with the camera to back off.
Brianna had gotten the saline solution and ran back as quick as she could, "here." She said whilst partially out of breath. "Thanks I owe you." Paige said with a smile, placing her contact into her eye again. She spent a few more minutes on the bench just to make sure she was full ready to go back out again, but when she did she was on fire, shot after shot, steal after steal and block after block finally causing them to win the game 25 points ahead.
All the girls were celebrating, chest bumping and pulling each other into hugs. Everyone had finally calmed down and this is when Paige ran over to Brianna who was watching everyone with a huge grin on her face. Without hesitation Paige pulled the girl in for a hug, lifting her off the ground and twirling her around all whilst thanking the girl for everything. After a moment the rest of the team came to hug Brianna, all of them loving how proud she looked making the team feel extra special.
