AU: The Beta Squad fell apart because of a supposed argument between Niko and Aj. They've addressed this to their fans and have been told that Beta Squad will no longer exist.

The five are still forced to make videos for JD, or other channels to keep their popularity up. In the videos, Niko and Aj make it extremely clear that they want nothing to do with each other.

However... The reason they gave to the fans was a coverup, the real reason Beta Squad had been put on hold is because Niko had proposed to Aj and so they wanted to focus on their new soon to be married life together.

The Beta Squad breakup hit the internet like an earthquake. Within minutes of the lack of a trailer in the last video, TikTok and Instagram was covered with #Bringbackbetasquad. Fan theories spread like wildfire. Some people brought up the pressures of fame, others wondered about secret disagreements about their videos off camera. When the group realised that no one was going to shut up about the theories, they just got together and said Niko and Aj had a really bad argument. Which might even lead to them moving out of their house together.

The reasoning was the only thing that made sense to the five, given the real reason of their split was because of those two boys anyways.

You see, Niko and Aj were soon to be married.

And the other three members were over the moon when they found out Niko was planning to propose. So they were immediately understanding when the couple said they wanted to take time away from filming. They'd still make videos individually like NDL and More Aj, just not with each other.

Aj had this beautiful diamond ring that he never wanted to take off. But there was one issue. That JD's filming schedule didn't care about personal drama - or fake personal drama, for that matter. The five of them were still obligated to show up for challenges, and fans watched with eagle eyes for every bit of tension between Niko and Aj.

Niko and Aj realised soon realised that if they acted how they did before the split up, they'd come across as too lovey and the fan's would catch on. Not to mention the behind the scenes people in JD. They obviously had no idea about the truth, since the couple chose to keep their engagement private.

"Alright, boys, we're gonna pair up for this one," the director announced.

Chunkz snorted. "Yeah, just don't pair them," he said, nodding toward Niko and Aj. "You want this shoot to last longer than five minutes, right?"

Aj huffed out angrily, "Oh so he's the unbearable one but you're throwing strays at me?!"

Niko leaned against the wall, a cocky smirk on his face. "If by unbearable you mean truthful, then sure, I'll take that." He shrugged.

Aj's glare was real, but the words weren't. "Oh fuck you, don't act like you're something. You ain't shit my friend."

"Oh?" Niko's grin widened. "Why're you all worked up then?"

Aj bit back the urge to respond. He knew that they couldn't let this play out too much or it'll seem fake.

Behind them, Sharky rolled his eyes and walked towards them. He put an arm around Aj, nodding at Niko. "I'll be with Aj. I don't think today should be the day we see him catch a case."

The boys had to take two separate Ubers back to their house, just in case anybody saw them on the mains. It was quite boring to Aj, having to keep this charade that he and Niko hate each other this much. The fact that they couldn't secretly kiss in the backseat, or have their hands on each other's thighs anymore devastated him. He sort of wished they gave a different reason for the break, but Aj knew all too well that this was the most reasonable one. Aj was excited to finally go home and see his not-for-long-boyfriend. Once Aj let himself in, his lover waiting for him at the front door.
