Y/N stepped into the tropical warmth of the Dominican Republic, a stark contrast to the emotional cold she felt back home. Chris, her younger brother, had insisted on this trip, dragging her along with his friends for a much-needed vacation. She wasn't used to traveling with others, especially after everything that had happened, but maybe this was the distraction she needed.Once they settled into their hotel, Chris called her to his room, excitement in his voice. "Y/N, get over here! You won't believe who I'm talking to!"
Y/N hesitated at the door, a sinking feeling in her stomach. "Who is it?"
"Just come on! Trust me!" Chris urged. With a resigned sigh, she pushed the door open and stepped inside. Chris was perched on the edge of his bed, phone pressed to his ear.
"Hey! She's here!" he announced, handing the phone to her without further ado and leaving alone .
Taehyung's voice on the other end was familiar,"Taehyung?" she said tentatively, her heart racing.
"Y/N, we need to talk," Taehyung's voice came through the line, steady but serious.
She sighed, the tension rising in her chest. "Taehyung, I don't know if I'm ready for this I don't want to talk to you Taehyung ."
Taehyung's voice was calm, but there was an edge to it, a seriousness that caught her off guard. "Y/N, I know you probably don't want to talk to me right now. But this isn't a breakup call, and it's not one of those 'let's pretend everything is fine' conversations either."
Y/N stayed silent, unsure of how to respond, the hurt still raw inside her.
"I'm not going to let us end like this," Taehyung continued. "When you get back from your trip, we're going to sit down and talk—no running, no games, no ignoring each other. We need to work this out. I know I messed up, but we owe it to ourselves to try."
Y/N's chest tightened. "Taehyung, all we've done is hurt each other. I don't know if we can even fix things anymore How can we go back to being friends, let alone anything more, after everything?."
There was a long pause on the other end before Taehyung's voice came through, this time more intense. "You can't just make me a dog dad and leave me hanging, Y/N. We've been best friends for more than ten years. I'm not going to let you go that easily."
His words hit her hard. The memory of how close they had once been, how much history they shared, flashed through her mind. But the pain of the past month, of him disappearing after their intimate night, was still raw. Tears pricked at her eyes. "But you hurt me, too. I can't just forget that you ditched me. It felt like you didn't care at all."whispered, her voice breaking. "You made me feel like nothing."
"I panicked that day!" he exclaimed, his voice softening. "I was scared, okay? I don't want you to leave like this, especially after everything we've shared. You remember what you said about growing old together? That's what I want."
Y/N choked back a sob, feeling the weight of their history pressing down on her. "It's just... everything's so complicated now."
"I know," Taehyung said quietly, regret thick in his voice. "I messed up. I panicked after that night, and I didn't know how to face you. But I don't want to lose you, Y/N. Not like this. Not after everything we've been through."
Tears spilled down her cheeks, and she tried to choke back a sob. "I don't know if I can trust you again," she admitted.
Taehyung was silent for a moment before speaking again, his voice softer now. "You told me once that you wanted to grow old together. That's what I want too, Y/N. I don't want you to go. I don't want to lose that dream."
