ARIZONAS POV

Amelia and I have been dating for almost a month now, and she's been in Seattle for almost 4 months. I love being with her. We've been going on a ton of dates and spending as much time together as we can. I was eating cereal downstairs in the kitchen and Derek was making coffee. Amelia walked in and was in her pajamas. She was adorable.

"Happy birthday," Derek said. My head shot up from my breakfast and looked at her.

"It's your birthday?" I asked.

"Yeah uh, thanks," Amelia said shyly. Maybe she just hated her birthday. Some people hate birthdays right? Maybe that was her.

"Amy you didn't tell her it was your birthday?" Derek chuckled.

"No," she shrugged, "It's fine."

"Well, you, me, Meredith, and Arizona should go out this weekend," Derek said, "Meredith is going to make a reservation."

"Okay," Amelia nodded and went back to making coffee. Derek shot me a sympathetic look and Amelia sat down at the table next to me.

"Happy birthday honey," I said.

"Thank you," she said.

"Do you want to do anything special today?" I asked.

"I kind of just want to relax," Amelia said.

"Okay," I said and kissed her cheek. She finished her coffee and rushed upstairs. I grabbed my car keys and drove to the nearest store. I grabbed a birthday card and a bundle of roses. I drove home and walked upstairs into our room. I stopped when I heard the shower water running and Amelia crying. I set the roses and card down on her bed and walked over to the bathroom door. I cracked it open.

"Amelia?" I said.

"Yeah?" She said quietly.

"Could I come in?" I asked.

"Yeah," she said. I walked into the bathroom and Amelia pulled back the shower curtain. Her eyes were puffy and red and tears were streaming down her face. I ran over to her and wrapped my arms around her.

"You're getting your clothes wet," Amelia said.

"I don't care," I said and held her. I shut the water off and grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her.

"What's going on love?" I asked. I started braiding her hair and grabbed her a clean set of clothes.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you when my birthday was," Amelia said in a quiet voice.

"That's alright," I said and helped her put on comfy clothes. I pulled the sweatshirt over her head and she looked so cozy.

"I hate my birthday," she said.

"Is that why you're so upset?" I asked gently.

"Yeah," she said. I grabbed her moisturizer off the counter and started applying it to her face. She usually never let me take care of her like this, but I could tell she really needed it.

"Thank you," she said.

"You're welcome, do you want to talk?" I asked.

"I hate my birthday because it just reminds me that I've lived another year without my son," she said, "he should be 5 years old and here with me. He should be going to school and running around in Meredith and Derek's big backyard. It's not fair that I get to get older every year and he never got to live his life." I wrapped my arms around her and brought her into my arms. I rubbed her back and kissed her head.

"Its seems like a stupid thing to celebrate," Amelia said.

"I understand that," I said, "we can do whatever you want to do today."

"I think I just want to lay in bed," Amelia said. She walked out to her bed and a small smile appeared when she saw the roses.

"Did you get these?" She turned and looked at me.

"No, must be your other girlfriend," I said. She chuckled and picked them up.

"They're beautiful, thank you," Amelia said.

"I wanted to get you something even if you don't want to make a big deal out of your birthday," I said.

"I really appreciate it," Amelia smiled. Her dimples popped out and it was the cutest thing. We put them in a vase and put them on the TV stand in our room. We then laid down in bed and Amelia laid her head on my chest. I ran my hand up and down her back and pulled me closer to her.

"I'm a horrible mother," Amelia said quietly, almost a whisper.

"Don't say that," I said gently, "it's not true."

"It's true," she said.
