ARIZONAS POV

It's been a few days since I've talked with Derek and I've done some shopping but I haven't decided on a ring yet. I parked my car next to Amelia's in the driveway and grabbed my work bag and walked inside. The house was awfully quiet. I walked into the kitchen and Amelias laptop was open and a few pieces of paper were next to it. I noticed an empty wine glass on the counter. I didn't put it there. I opened the wine cabinet and it was empty. Shit. I walked upstairs and opened our bedroom door. The bathroom door was closed and I could hear Amelia sobbing. My heart broke. I knocked on the door.

"Amelia? Honey?" I said softly.

"Arizona please don't be mad at me," she said.

"I'm not going to be mad at you," I said, "Open the door." I opened the door and her eyes were puffy and red.

"I'm so sorry," she cried, "I'll pay you back for it I swear."

"What?" I said as I wrapped her in a hug, "What are you talking about."

"I threw out your wine," she said, "And it was shitty of me because I know it was expensive but I got into a fight with my mom and I knew if it was in the house I'd drink it so I threw it out. It was yours and I'm sorry."

"Amelia, honey I don't care about the wine or the money. I came up here thinking you broke your sobriety and I am so glad you didn't. I'm sorry for even having wine in the house I didn't know it would bother you. You're not paying me back for anything," I said and rubbed her back, "Sweetheart it's okay."

"I didn't drink any I swear," she said, "I can, I can show you it in the trash can outside I didn't drink it."

"Honey I trust you," I said gently, "I trust you okay?" She nodded and I wiped her tears away with my thumb.

"Why don't we get you cleaned up?" I said.

"I can do it it's fine," she said, "You're probably hungry you just got home."

"Amelia. Let me take care of you," I said gently. She nodded. I walked into the closet and grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a crewneck. I walked into the bathroom and I washed her face and pulled her hair back. I helped her change into comfy clothes and I grabbed her skincare off the counter.

"Sit down," I said gently. She sat down on the chair in front of the vanity and I lightly applied some of her products. I pretty much knew her routine by heart from watching her every night. It was one of my favorite things to do. She was always so calm and relaxed doing it.

"Do you want to talk?" I asked.

"I want you to read something on my phone," she said softly.

"Okay, why don't we lay down in bed?" I suggested. She nodded. She handed me her phone and she laid down. She rolled over so she wasn't facing me but I wouldn't bring it up. I'm sure whatever is on here upset her and she doesn't want to see it again. I looked down and it was a text chain with her mother. I swallowed hard and opened it.

Carolyn: Amelia, can we talk?

Amelia: Hey I'm at work I'm busy. What's up?

Carolyn: So did you think you were just going to get away with moving in with that girl? Did you think I wouldn't find out? You're going to buy a house just to run away from her eventually. I cannot believe you would hide this from me, more so make your brother cover for you. I'm so disappointed in you.

Amelia: I'm not hiding it from you. I didn't tell you because I don't care about your opinion. Her and I are happy in our house.

Carolyn: You're fucking disgusting. Can you use your brain for two seconds Amelia. You run away from the perfect man to get with some random girl? That is not a real relationship, that is bullshit. And now you're living together and acting like that's a real life? What are you going to do when Meredith and Derek have kids? You think they want to see your lifestyle?

Amelia: Probably just going to be an aunt to their children it's really not as serious of an issue you're making it out to be. And pretty sure it's Derek's choice if his hypothetical children were allowed to be around me.

Carolyn: I hope you wake up one day and realize how you fucked up your entire life Amelia. After all I tried to do for you after your father died and this is how you're going to act. I'm extremely disappointed in you. You've got your brother and Meredith lying for you and covering for you while you play out this act of life. Get it together. You ruined two perfectly good relationships. One with drugs and one by being a fucking idiot. You're lucky your father cannot see you now. Get over this shit and be a real adult with a real life.

Amelia: Please don't contact me regarding Arizona again. Thanks.

I looked over at her and she was still laying on her side.

"Hey," I said quietly.

"Hey," she choked out.

"Come here honey," I said and wrapped her in a hug, "Come here."

"I really don't want to talk about it," she said as she cried.

"Okay," I said softly, "That's okay. But thank you for sharing it with me."

"Mhm," she said as she held onto me.

"Are you still craving alcohol?" I asked as I rubbed her back.

"I don't want to answer that," Amelia said.

"Well," I said, "Ice cream isn't alcohol but it's a pretty close second." She looked up at me and chuckled.

"Good idea?" I asked.

"Sure," She chuckled, "let's go for ice cream." I put my arm around her and walked outside to the car. I drove us to the nearest place and got out and ordered for both of us. I came back and Amelia smiled at me.

"Thanks," she said as I handed her a cup. I sat down next to her in the car and we both silently at ice cream. I didn't want to say something to upset her. I didn't know what she was thinking. But I just wanted to get her mind off the alcohol.

"Arizona?" Amelia said in a soft voice.

"Yeah?" I said as I looked at her.

"This was a good idea," she said, "Thank you."

"You're welcome," I said, "We can come back any time you like."

"What flavor did you get?" She asked as she was eyeing my cup.

"Do you want to try it?" I chuckled.

"Yeah maybe," she laughed and I handed her my spoon, "here try mine." It was good to see her smile and laugh.

Amelia had her head on my chest and an arm over my waist. I was rubbing her back and staring at the ceiling. I couldn't sleep. Amelia on the other hand was snoring. She was so cute. I loved the way her hair fell over her face and the way her breathing sounded. I felt so bad that she had a hard day but I'm glad I could try to cheer her up. I need to propose soon because I want her in my life forever. I want to marry her. I want to have kids. She changed everything. She is everything.
