The mother and only son of the Midoriya family made their way to the quirk doctor's office, the child excitedly chatting away while holding his figure of the number one hero, and his mother smiling at his silly antics. When they were called to see Dr. Tsubasa, all the boy's dreams were crushed with a single sentence.

"You should just give up being a hero kid." The doctor said nonchalantly, like what he just told the green haired pair wasn't the most heart-breaking thing ever.

"You're joking, right...? There's no way Izuku could be quirkless..." Inko Midoriya said nervously, holding her distraught son close and shakily laughing.

"Sorry ma'am, but I'm not. You see Mrs. Midoriya," the doctor said, pointing to X-Rays on his screen.

"Studies on those with quirks and those without show a common trend between the two. Those with a quirk are seen without this extra joint in the pinky toe, since it is relatively useless, and shows how those with quirks are... more 'evolved', shall we say. Sadly, your son has the extra joint, leading us to assume he is, in fact, quirkless." It was silent for a moment, then two, only broken by the sound of an All Might figure being dropped on the floor, and young Izuku Midoriya's tears falling to the ground.

The boy clung to his mother that night, sobbing into her shoulder, while she tried her best to comfort her child, an over watched All Might video playing in the background.

"I-I can still be a hero... r-right 'Kaasan...?" Izuku asked softly, breath shaky and hands trembling. Inko didn't know what to say, not wanting to give him false hope, and knowing what would happen just the next day.

"I'm sorry Izuku..." She said, her voice just as shaky as her son's while she tried to hold back tears. Hopefully he wouldn't lose his best friend. Though, Katsuki Bakugou was never the nicest child. Surely Mitsuki would keep him from doing anything hurtful to her son? Oh, who is she kidding. It doesn't matter.

Izuku would never see any of them again after tomorrow...

The next day, when Izuku woke up, he heard his mother talking to some people downstairs. Not wanting to embarrass Inko, he actually dressed up in something that wasn't All Might merch. He made his way to the door, where he heard his mom talking to... the police? Did something happen? Oh, he hoped not. Katsuki was coming over after all! And soon as well, it would be a problem if something came up.

"'Kaasan...?" Izuku yawned, and his mother turned around, teary eyed. The police looked at him with indifference, possibly disgust. Worry coming over him, the boy ran over to his mother.

"'Kaasan? What's wrong?" This only caused more tears to well in Inko's eyes, and she pulled him into a tight hug.

"I'm so sorry Izuku... but these men will take you somewhere where you'll be treated better... so that you won't be the odd one out..." What did she mean? Odd one out? Does she mean him being quirkless? Confused, but determined to comfort his mother, he hugged her back with a smile, though a concerned one at that. A feeling of dread began to grow in his chest as he saw the police give side glances to each other, sneering as well.

"It's okay 'Kaasan! Don't cry, I'm not going too far away, am I?" Inko was silent, and Izuku's smile fell slowly. The police took his wrist firmly, separating the two. The green haired boy screamed as he was dragged aggressively, and saw his mother break down by the door. He looked around and saw his friend.

"Kacchan!" He yelled, tears coming to his eyes, confusion and distress overwhelming him. The blonde boy looked startled, and ran away from his parents, towards him. But Mitsuki and Masaru held him back, both soon understanding what was happening when they saw Inko wasn't fighting to get Izuku back. Katsuki looked between his parents, extremely confused and frustrated at the same time. His most loyal friend was being taken away! Why on Earth are they stopping him???

Izuku was terrified as he was thrown in the car, crying now. The police officers began driving, and Izuku watched as the Bakugou's went to comfort his mother. He and Katsuki made eye contact, and as a final plea, he yelled:

"Keep 'Kaasan safe!"

Now, maybe, if the blonde boy knew Izuku was quirkless, he wouldn't be so determined to get him back. Or maybe he would, but even if he was, he wouldn't be strong enough to stop those police officers. He would be helpless against his parents who held him back with sympathetic expressions. But in this universe, this moment in time, he knew he needed to be a good hero and save his best friend from the people he deemed villainous.

Though sadly, his determination faded through the years, along with his memories of the only true friend he had, and the only thoughts he had of the Midoriya family being the poor lady his family looked after for the next two years, with a distaste to the police for reasons he can't seem to remember.
