Diary Entry Number 8.
Name: Izuku Midoriya
Age: 6
Once again, I'm writing about how I plan to escape. The last 7 tries have failed, but I stopped for a few months, and now I've recovered enough I think to try again. But this is only a plan. I'm not going to act on it just yet. Seeing me with any more bruises and scars would break Catharina's heart. She, as well as Andrea and Vinayak, think they've finally convinced me to stop. Well, they haven't. For now. If I fail this attempt, then I'll stop for good. This escape is taking all my brain power, and I'm going to work out any and all problems until I get it right. I'll memorise the staff shifts, where the security cameras are, where security is tightest, all of it. I need to work everything out otherwise I might just end up moved into a single room with security outside my door. Now, with the plan, after looking for a while, I found a vent. It was hidden behind a bed in my current dorm. My current problem is needing a ladder, since it goes horizontal for a while, but then becomes vertical. That, or I'll need to steal knives from the cafeteria to stick into the crevices and use as steps. That's as far as I can go for now, and I think the knives is the best idea to get up it. I'll write again when I've gotten to the top to make a map of the vents.
Till then.
The green haired boy finished up his entry before placing his diary under his mattress. For the next few weeks, he'll need to take knives from the cafeteria, about ten to get to the top of the vent in his dorm. He'll need more if he wants to do the same for each room, but ten is a start.
It was easy enough, taking a knife during each meal for four days, offering to take his friend's plates so he can use theirs as well, which left him with 96 knives. Catharina seemed a bit more relaxed lately, and apparently for her good behavior and top grades, she'll be moved into the same dorm as Andrea, which'll be for the best considering the Greek girl is basically Catharina's therapist. Vinayak was still grumpy, but didn't look like he'd attack the next person who breathed too loudly next to him.
Izuku felt guilty for lying to his friends, but as they got better, the more determined he was to escape and help the others discover freedom too. He put pebbles in his pocket during sport lessons, planning to use them to destroy the security cameras in case he couldn't find a vent to just drop himself onto them. Speaking of which, tonight will be the night he travels across the vents to map them. He'll only need to map out his sector of the 'sanctuary', and since he has the knives to go up down vents, it should only take a night or two. The boy also took a few oil pastels as well to mark on the vents where they went.
Diary Entry Number 9.
Name: Izuku Midoriya
Age: 6
(A/N: I'm too lazy to make decent maps, nor to make any more, and I don't know how vents work so bear with me.)
I managed to map out the vents, all in good time too. I found one leading outside the wall of the cafeteria, but on the other side is quite a few security cameras, not to mention the outer wall surrounding the 'sanctuary', which has security guards at the top plus even more security cameras. On the day of my escape, I'll drop into CCTV when the staff goes to end her shift. I'll need to be quick to get in then out before the next shift arrives. For lunch over the next few weeks, I'll be figuring out how it works through watching her during lunch and recess and the guy who takes over her shift during the night. But I'll take a few nights off watching to get proper sleep.
Till then.
He finished off his diary entry in the vents, before making his way back to his dorm. Though the green haired boy stopped when he passed over the hallways. Oh crud. It's the inspector. Izuku forgot about her. She came twice a month to make sure the 'sanctuary' wasn't breaking down. But all she ended up doing was flirting with the guards. Rumor had it she was a pedophile. Not that Izuku knew what that was. Her name was Sarah Caldwich, but all the quirkless here call her Mrs. Crook because of her teeth. Izuku went back to making his way to bed while she was distracted by flirting with a security guard who couldn't care less. The Japanese boy moved slower though so he didn't make too much noise as he passed over the two.
He made to bed just in time, holding his diary close to his chest. Mrs. Crook entered the room, letting light from the hallway fill into the dorm. Izuku took deeper breaths, and faced the wall so his eyes wouldn't twitch. Mrs. Crook walked into the dorm, and the freckled boy felt a chill down his spine. She stood in the dorm, and Izuku just had to hope she didn't check too thoroughly yet, so she didn't find the hastily put together vent.
Thankfully, she left before anything bad happened, closing the door behind her. As her footsteps left ear shot, people began speaking.
"Izuku!" Someone whisper shouted. Then someone else. Then someone else until everyone was whisper shouting at him.
"Where were you?" "We were so worried!" "Do you actually have a quirk?" "You disappeared!" The boy they were whisper shouting to finally sat up straight and looked around at the children. They all had worried expressions; one was checking under their bed from where Izuku came back through the vent.
"Um..." He tried to come up with a reasonable excuse.
"I had a nightmare... and went to my safe space..." No one looked like they believed him, so he sneakily slid his diary under his pillow, bringing his knees to his chest. Crocodile tears came in handy at times like these. Izuku made his eyes well up, and the children were becoming convinced.
"Do you want to talk about it...?" One of them asked, and Izuku shook his head, sniffing and wiping his eyes.
"Alright... but please don't be afraid to wake one of us up next time and tell us. You can sleep with one of us or just tell us you'll be going to your safe place. 'Kay?" Izuku nodded and mumbled an 'Alright.' Everyone shuffled to get comfortable in the stiff beds, and Izuku put a hand under his pillow to hold his dairy. That was a close call. He'll make sure everyone is asleep next time.
