Diary Entry 16
Name: Izuku Midoriya
Age:7
I did it! I escaped! And now I'm staying with someone called Granny B until she deems me recovered to continue my journey. Though I'm a bit uneasy about this, she seems nice, and she makes great food. I've been here for a day, and she's gotten me nicer clothes. She says they're from when her daughter was still young. I don't mind though, since it's not like they're dresses. Just shirts and shorts that she washed while I was asleep. After looking around, I saw a few picture frames of her family, and they all seem happy throughout the years. There's not much more I can write about, so I might not update for a while.
Till then.
Izuku put his diary in his bag, and soon after was called by Granny B. The old lady was in her room, trying to get out some boxes from her cupboard.
"Hi dear! Did you have a good sleep?" She asked as she put a box on the bed.
"Yes mi- um... Granny B... did you...?" The boy asked, standing by the door of the room.
"I slept well thank you! Can you come here? I have some things you might like." This got Izuku's attention. He entered the room slowly, before his curiosity got the better of him and he sped up to look inside the box. It was a bunch of CDs for something. Blu-Ray? And the movies were things called The Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy. It looked cool to say the least.
"From my childhood! My grandparents used to show them to me all the time! Early 21st century movies I think." Granny B said. These must be pretty old. Izuku took one out called Captain America: The first Avenger. He reminded the boy of All Might.
"I was going to ask if you want to watch them? It's pretty boring for a child here so I thought I might as well give you something fun to do." The woman said with her usual smile. The movies interested him, so Izuku put Captain America back in the box, then picked the box up. Granny B laughed and led him to the TV room. He put the box down, and Granny B took out the CD of Captain America, putting it inside the slot of the TV, selected a few settings, then pressed play.
The Japanese boy watched the movie with growing intrigue, the beginning of the scrawny Steve Rogers kind of making him think of himself. Granny B watched the movie with him, brushing his hair and getting out knots. Izuku didn't notice though, as he was invested. How had he never heard of this before? How did the movies cease to be popular? They were amazing! He was on the edge of the couch, and halfway through Granny B brought left over cookies from the day before for him to snack on.
"Do you think I could be like that one day...? A hero...? Even if I'm quirkless..." He asked, his voice trailing off when he mentioned his powerlessness. Granny B laughed, patting his head.
"Of course you can dear. I just hope you don't plan on injecting yourself with something to get to it." Izuku blushed, because that was his first thought, but nodded and continued watching the movie. He cried at the end, and he started rambling on how Peggy should've gotten her dance. He was sad for a while, until the clip scene at the end played.
"WHAT?? How does that work! Wouldn't he have gotten hypothermia from being in ice that long? For 72 years??? Did the serum have something to do with it? I don't think that would work in real life. Unless excess heat from the engine kept his body warm. But then again, the ice would've melted if that was the case and he wouldn't have been preserved, meaning he would've rotted by the time they found him. And there couldn't have possibly been enough heat to last that long." The old woman laughed as he rambled, trimming out dead/split ends in his hair.
"If you keep dwelling on things like that you won't be able to enjoy the movies properly. I'll find the next movie for you." The boy nodded his head vigorously, and Granny B shuffled to put on the next movie for him. When she sat down to continue to trim Izuku's hair, she couldn't help but notice the light in his eyes. She smiled softly, combing his hair out and letting loose strands fall onto the towel she put around his shoulders.
Izuku wanted to whine when Granny B told him to sleep, since he wanted to watch more MARVEL, but that's rude and he needs to be grateful she's even letting him watch it. He begrudgingly bathed himself then went to bed, dreaming of heroes with a newfound hope.
The next day, he found Granny B cleaning up rooms and remembered that she had family coming over in a few days. He could just watch MARVEL the whole time though, right? He wouldn't want to disrupt family time. Definitely. Though he decided he'd help clean. He brought a stool to the kitchen and began washing the cluttered dishes in the sink. It was shocking how a single lady could make so many dishes dirty. This was how he spent the next week until a car pulled up outside the house.
He went to the window and looked out, and Granny B left the house entirely to welcome them. There were two adults, and two girls who looked Izuku's age. The girls both had slightly tan skin and green eyes, one having black hair with a pink streak and the other having pink hair with a black streak. They ran around the car, chasing each other, before running to Granny B. Their parents went to greet Granny B as well, a tan man with pink hair and green eyes hugging the old woman, and a scarred fair lady with blue eyes and black hair went to the boot to take out their luggage. That was Izuku's que to run.
He wasn't interacting with people this early in the day. Not a chance. He hadn't even brushed his hair yet! He ran to the bathroom, locking the door behind him, brushing his green hair and hiding in the bathtub. And he did not plan to get out unless Granny B called him. Which happened the moment she entered the house with her family behind her.
He cringed and mentally prepared himself. The boy stood up, taking a deep breath and exiting the bathroom, and the two girls immediately ran up to him.
"Hi hi!" "Are you Granny's helper?" "I thought you'd be older." "But you're our age! You want to be friends?" "I'm Tonja!" "I'm Beatrice, the better twin!" "Hey! I'm the better twin!" "No, you're not!" "Yes I am!" "No, I am!"
The two girls spoke very quickly, and while they bickered, Izuku side stepped to get past them and made his way to the safety of Granny B. He had to stop though since she was speaking to the adults. They looked down at him, and Izuku felt a bit overwhelmed by their gazes. The scarred lady knelt down to his height.
"Hello, Izuku was it?" Her voice was deeper than he expected, a bit raspy as well, but he stayed polite and nodded, putting his hands by his side. The girls who bickered were back, and they held one of Izuku's arm each, a big grin on their face as they began yapping again. This startled him, and the lady laughed.
"Let him go girls. You're making him uncomfortable." The smiles fell from their faces, and they let go of his arms, bowing apologetically.
"Sorry!" They chimed in unison. They went to their mother's side, who held a hand out to him.
"Sasha Harper. You'll have to get used to my daughters." She grinned, and Izuku noticed a gold tooth. His first impression of this lady was she's either a hero who's been through a lot, or she didn't have the best life growing up. He took her hand and shook it, then let go and looked up at the pink haired man. He seemed very tired, with very prominent eye bags.
"My husband, Caspar Harper." Sasha introduced, and the man just nodded and continued speaking to Granny B.
"Daddy's a doctor!" "A psychiatrist!" "Same thing! Different parts of a person!" "A psychiatrist is more specific though!" "Yeah, yeah!" "And mommy's a surgeon!" "A really good one to!" "And she used to-"
The girl with black hair cut off her pink haired sister, covering her mouth.
"Shhhhh!" "Oh! Right, sorry!" "Dummy!" "I'm not a dummy!" "Yes you are!" "Am not!"
The girls started bickering once again, and their mother sighed. Izuku's interest peaked, but he stayed polite and didn't ask, as it was clearly a secret. If they weren't allowed to say, then her previous job must be something she wasn't proud of. Most likely where she got all the scars from. Feeling awkward and out of place, Izuku offered to help bring in luggage, and was stuck with helping the twins bring in theirs. They were going to be staying in the same room as him. He had a feeling he wouldn't be able to sleep for however long they were staying.
