Having been born and raised in a poor family from a small town of northern Italy, the only opportunity i ever had to travel was through my imagination. I've lost count of how many cool alternate worlds i've visited shifting from a character to another, night after night. It's safe to say i was never socially successful, and the only means i had to stay sane was day-dreaming.
I hate whining pathetically, but the sound of all the things i could be, shattering in a million tiny pieces, is deafening.
As I gently close my eyes, I hear you whisper softly as we continue our goodbyes
The streets of Florida's most coveted city are filled with people of all origins and tan-lines, and it's not that hard to spot the tourists from the crowds. It's funny. I should feel more awkwardly out of place but it isn't so. This sense of calmness i've been invaded by ever since i got to my room is oddly inebriating, easily unlike anything i've ever experienced.
It took us a while to make it to the hospital because of traffic. The driver didn't say a word the whole time and i'm obviously smart to rush into this ordeal without asking for some minimum information that would allow me to act more smoothly now.
Dare i make a move and disturb the universe?
"Remember that time you got lost in the university's yard while you were looking for the literature room? It took you over an hour to finally give up and wait for other students to arrive so you could follow them nonchalantly" - i thought shadows couldn't speak...
"Eh..Don't laugh, it was a very low point for me. Figure i had even asked the janitor for directions! In my defense it was all the way across the lot, under a staircase, beyond a massive doorway. Not that visible!"
"Mmmh...Excuses, excuses...The point is, you managed to find it nonetheless! The main entrance here is right in front of you. All you have to do is drag a leg in front of the other and go past the door. You've got brain, you'll know what to do next!" - Excuse moi...you are?
"Make way! Make way, everybody! Come on now! We've got a code red here!" - ow. I forgot i was in the middle of the driveway.
I need to get my shit together; I can't space out like this anymore. It seems like my efforts to keep my head on the ground are no longer effective, with only upsetting incidents like this bringing me back to reality. I wonder how worse it can get.
What's certain is that the gorish scene i'm witnessing is having soothing effects on me; so much that i wouldn't mind replacing the guy on the stretcher. All that blood...
