After taking a shower and checking the house for Aiden, who's not home, I decide to make some breakfast. Some toast, scrambled eggs and bacon.

Rex walks into the kitchen a few moments later. "Do I smell bacon?"

His deep voice sends a shiver down my spine. I give him a shy smile. "Yeah, I made breakfast."

He sits down on the kitchen counter and digs in. "So, listen."

I perk up. "Yes?"

"I uh-" a light blush dusts his face. "Need to buy some gifts. For Christmas. Do you want to go shopping with me?"

I blink. Shopping? I love shopping. I squeal out a yes in reply.

Two hours later we're at the mall, just walking around because Rex is no help. He has no opinions at all. "Rex, you have to tell me which one you like!" I throw my hand up in exasperation, but he just shrugs. I sighed. This is going to be a long day. "Alright, how about we focus on your mom's gift first. What did you have in mind?"

He shrugs again. "I don't know."

I resist the urge to smack him. "Okay so let me give you some options. Jewelry or beauty products?"

He pinched his brows together as he thinks very hard on such a simple matter. And while he ponders over his options, I stare at him. I notice the way lips turn down a little and his jaw ticks when he's concentrating. He rubs his jaw with his right hand, the left hand on his waist. "Beauty products?"

"Hmm?" I snap out of my daze. "Oh right, that's good. So maybe you can make her a gift basket. With bath bombs, and scented candles. Oh and a body butter too!"

"Body butter?" His entire face is scrunched in disgust. "What's that?"

I shake my head at his ignorance. "It's something you put in your skin to make it smooth."

His eyebrows are draw up as he nods. "So a lotion?"

I tilt my head to the side. "Yes, something like that."

We walk through the store, picking out gift items. We already have the bath bombs, now we need scented candles and body butter. "Which scent do you want?" My question goes unheard as Rex plays with a strand of my hair. "Rex!" I smack his hand away from my hair. "Which scent?"

He doesn't answer. Instead he stares at me with pursed lips. "Rex!"

Rex sighs like I'm annoying him. "Whatever you like."

I huff and start smelling the candles before holding out two different ones up to his nose. "Which one do you like better?"

He sniffs the first candle, lavender and vanilla, and nods appreciatively. He sniffs the second candle and immediately pulls away. "Why's it spicy?"

I raise an eyebrow at him. "You didn't tell me what you'd like so I had to test everything."

He has the audacity to roll his eyes at me and goes back to playing with my hair while I keep holding up candles to his nose for him to smell. Finally he settles for the lavender and vanilla one so I put that in our cart.

Next we start picking out the body butter. "Which scent, Rex?"

He gives me a disbelieving look. "Just pick whatever we took for the candle," he answers absentmindedly as he twirls a strand of my hair.

I nod and pick out a vanilla scented body butter. "We're done shopping for you mom. Now your dad. What did you want to get him?"

Rex looked very surprised by my question. "I forgot about dad." He pursed his lips. "What should I get him?"

I stare at him. "How can you forget one of your parents?"

"Let's just get him a mug."

"A mug," I scoff. "That's what you're gonna give your father on Christmas?"

He shrugs. "You have a better idea?"

I bite my lower lip, trying to come up with a cool gift idea. "I got my dad a pair of sunglasses."

Rex laughs softly. "My dad doesn't wear sunglasses."

I hum, deep in thought. "Oh I know, Mr. Montgomery plays golf. Why don't you get him a golf club?"

"Okay."

We pick out all the gifts, he pays and then we get home. Then, the audacious man orders me to wrap the presents.

"You do it," I protest crossing my arms on my chest, trying to look intimidating. But I don't think it works because Rex just laughs me off and keep playing with my hair. What's his obsession with my hair? "I'm serious, Rex. I'm not going to wrap presents for you."

But he clearly does not care about my opinion because he doesn't reply. So I end up wrapping the presents for him because he was going to pack them without wrapping. This friendship is starting to look very one-sided.
