The Montgomery family owns an accounting firm. And every year, they throw a party to celebrate the New Year. And like every other year, they invited us to the party.

But going to this party would ruin all my efforts. I've been successful at avoiding Rex after the incident on Christmas.

After our kiss I ran away. Ran away like a coward.

I was too scared and embarrassed and shy to face him. So when he loosened his grip on my waist I ran.

Now I'll have to face him.

I nervously walk downstairs where my parents and Aiden are waiting for me.

"Oh baby, you look so pretty," mom exclaimed wrapping her arms around me and kissing my forehead.

I thought I looked pretty too. I am wearing a floor length burgundy spaghetti-strap dress paired with black heels. I curled my hair so that it's a perfect wave, and my lips painted a deep red. "Thanks mom."

Dad smiled softly and wrapped his arms around the both of us. "My girls look gorgeous today." And that made both me and mom blush.

"Yeah, mom looks pretty, Lily, you look like a witch. And if you're not careful, they're going to burn you," Aiden put in his unnecessary opinion.

"Well you-" mom cut me off saying that we're late. She always saves him.

We were greeted by Mr and Mrs Montgomery before they had to go and meet other guests. Mom and dad also left to mingle with other people leaving me with Aiden.

Aiden of course, attracted Rex's attention. But the good thing is, with my brother around, he won't get a chance to even look at me.

"Aiden, man there's a really hot chick over there by the bar." Ok so I was wrong. Because Aiden was gone even before Rex finished his sentence.

"Lily, sweetheart, please let's talk," Rex gripped my arm before I could leave and that sudden action make me squeak embarrassingly. Way to go Lily.

Rex lead us to a secluded corner. "Baby, listen, I really, really like you. And-"

I stop his practiced speech in the middle. "Rex, this can't happen. I know what you want, and I'm sorry but I can't give that to you."

He shakes his head vehemently. "No you've got the wrong idea. I don't wanna bang you. I mean I do but that's not the only thing. I also want something more. You know? Something real. With feelings and shit."

I scrunch my eyes at the end of his heartfelt speech. "I - I don't know, Rex. It's just, a lot. I need to think about it. And-"

"No, no no no. Don't think-" he grabbed my arms and pulled me flush against him. "Then you'll just say no. Tell me, do you want this," he whispered against my lips.

"I uh-"

"That's a yes or no question. And please be honest."

I take a deep breath and nod. This is a bad idea, but I guess I'll just do it for the plot? "Yes."

"Great," he pecks my nose and goes to kiss my lips but I place my hand over his mouth.

"But if we're going to do this, we're going to do this on my terms."

He frowned but nodded.

"You will not see anyone else during this."

"Of course, yeah."

I blink. "Oh, uh, that was easy. So um- that's all I had."

He grins at me before pulling me impossibly closer and placing his lips on mine. This action spreads warmth and excitement all through my body. I try to match his pace but given my inexperience at kissing people I find it a little difficult.

When he pulls back I can see a trail of saliva connecting our mouths. "At least this time you didn't run away," he teases, pinching my hip.

"Ow," I pull away and rub the place he pinched, my face heating up at his teasing remark. I shuffle nervously, twiddling my thumbs. "You noticed that."

He laughs, it's a deep throaty laugh that does things to me. "Yes, baby. You sprinted at full speed. A lot of people noticed that."

My blush deepens and he pinches my cheeks. "You're adorable." The look in his eyes is something I've never seen before. He looks content. "So, my first girlfriend, huh?" Oh I'm going to wipe that smirk right off.

"Actually, no," I narrow my eyes at him. "You never asked me."

"But, it was implied. I mean, I don't need to say it, do I?"

I nod.

"Please don't make me say it," he grimaced. "It's so cringe."

I shake my head, unrelenting. I need to assert my dominance.

"Fine," he blew through his mouth, going down on one knee. "Dear Lily Thompson, will you please bless my life and be my girlfriend?"

I blush and giggle. "Yes."

He stands up again. "Sorry, I didn't have a ring. I promise next time I will get one."

My fave heats up even more. Is he implying that we'll get married? However my thoughts, are cut off by his kiss and this time he's bolder. He even dared to put his hand on my butt. I'm not complaining though.
