As the bell rang, signaling the end of my last morning class, I let out a quiet sigh of relief. Another day, another set of lectures down. The rest of the afternoon was mine, and honestly, all I could think about was heading back to my room to relax for a bit. I packed my things lazily, my mind already wandering to what I might do with my free time.

Maybe I'd catch up on some reading—or binge-watch that show everyone had been talking about. But there was also something else tugging at the back of my mind. Someone, actually.

As I stepped out of the classroom and into the warm midday sun, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and unlocked it. Scrolling through the usual slew of notifications, I paused at one thought. Eunchae. We hadn't talked much since the concert, but that wasn't because I didn't want to. I just didn't want to seem too eager.

After a few moments of hesitation, I opened our chat and started typing.

"Hey, what are you up to?"

I stared at the message for a second before hitting send, feeling the familiar mix of anticipation and nerves that always came with texting her. Sure, it wasn't like this was the first time we'd texted, but still—there was something about her that made everything feel a little more significant.

I didn't have to wait long for a reply. A few seconds later, my phone buzzed.

"Hey! Just heading to Music Bank now  What about you?"

I smiled at the screen, imagining her rushing around behind the scenes, busy with the life of an idol that seemed so distant from mine. Yet, here we were, somehow connected.

"Just finished class. Figured I'd check in on you. You excited?"

Her reply came quickly, along with a photo that almost made my heart stop. It was a selfie—simple, casual, and completely disarming. She was wearing her stage outfit, her makeup done flawlessly, but what caught my attention most was her bright smile. Despite everything, she looked genuinely happy.

"Always! It's been a while since we've had a live performance, so I'm pumped "

I leaned back against the nearest wall, my lips curving into a grin as I responded.

"You'll do great, I'm sure. You always do."

I felt a bit cheesy after sending it, but it was true. Even after only a few interactions, I had this odd sense of pride whenever I saw her perform. Like I was rooting for her in a way that went beyond just being a fan.

She took a bit longer to respond this time, and I could almost picture her rushing to her next schedule, but eventually, another message popped up.

"Thanks, Y/N. That means a lot  Anyway, I gotta go now. They're calling us in. Talk later?"
