Y/N POV
As I followed Aki out of the school gates, I could feel the usual buzz of excitement that came with our daily lunch runs. He was rambling on about some new game he'd just bought, hands gesturing wildly as we walked down the familiar street.
"Dude, you seriously need to try it. It's like the best thing ever," Aki was saying, though half of my mind was somewhere else.
"Yeah, sounds cool," I mumbled, giving him a distracted nod.
I had been preoccupied all morning. My mind kept wandering back to Eunchae and the last time we'd seen each other. That night had been perfect, but I couldn't help but feel a little paranoid. There were always eyes on us, and the constant pressure of having to be careful gnawed at me. Being with someone like her, an idol, was never going to be easy.
As we turned the corner, something caught my eye. A sleek, black car was parked along the curb, its tinted windows concealing the inside. A group of men in suits stood around it, and before I could process what was happening, one of them stepped forward.
"Y/N?" The man said my name with a calm yet authoritative tone. He wasn't much older than us, maybe late twenties, but the way he carried himself screamed that he meant business.
I stopped in my tracks, feeling a sudden knot form in my stomach. Aki, sensing the tension, quieted down and looked between me and the suited men.
"What's this about?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
"It's in your best interest to come with us," the man said, his face unreadable. "We won't take up much of your time."
My instincts screamed to say no, to turn around and walk away, but something in the man's tone made me hesitate. The way he said "best interest" made it sound like more of a threat than a suggestion.
"I'm good, thanks," I tried to brush them off, taking a step back. But then the man added something that froze me in place.
"It would be better for both you and Eunchae."
Aki shot me a confused look, and I clenched my fists, my heart now pounding in my chest. What did these guys know? How did they—
"Fine," I said before Aki could question what was going on. "I'll go."
