Chapter 29: A Thing About a Cavé's Heart
Nevaeh

The Night of the Show

I was in deep distress about the whole Christian thing. I kept thinking about the past and how the past was bleeding into my present. But Damon made all the hurt stop even if it was for a night. The way he came to my side with a swift agility made my heart flutter a thousand times.

I should have ignored everything he was doing. I needed to protect him as much as he would want to protect me. But when I looked into his eyes, my absolute weakness, my heart fluttered a thousand times more. His words, his kisses, his prescenes were far more powerful and influential than anything Christian could say or do.

I was not going to break up with Damon and I was not going to forfeit the competition. Christian could do whatever he wanted. And my decision to not care was one of the best things I did because the feeling of winning for once in a long time was something I desperately needed.

I've lost so much. I lost my friend, my scholarship, my dad, and my dignity. I lost a decent relationship with mom. I was tired of losing. This might be selfish of me but I didn't care. I was tired of losing.

As I was waiting for Damon in  the dressing room, I received a text message. It was him.

Christian: I see you didn't do either of these things I told you too. You will regret it. Trust me.

I ignored the message. I was not going to let him ruin my night. I wanted at least one night to be perfect. Just like when I was in Vermont with everyone that I loved.

It was moments later when Damon appeared at the doorway. "Ready?" he said. I nodded my head and followed him out.

We were one of the last to leave. We walked towards his car and he opened the door of his white Audi like a gentleman which he was aside from the times we had sex. "We are going to go somewhere before I take you home."

"Damon Angelo Coyne, where are you taking me?" I asked eagerly.

"It's a surprise. And even if you try to guess, I won't tell you."

I wasn't really paying attention to where he was driving. After not giving in to my guessing, I decided to just relax and enjoy the song that he was playing.

"How does it feel to win?"

"Amazing. Thank you for getting my mind on track?"

"What happened?"
