Hey loves! Here's a new update. Another shorty here. I don't feel like overcomplicating the chapter right now. Once I revisit after this is completed, then I'll decided if I want to add more if it is needed. Also, I have not really proof read this chapter yet.

Chapter 25: Teresa's Love Song
Damon

Three Days Before the Show

Teresa always had intimidating eyes like as if she was trying to look into your soul. As if she was trying to find any flaw and twist up that flaw around your neck. But I don't care about the intimidating eyes she had. I didn't care about the scowl she had on her face. I was here for only one thing and I think it was to confront her about the birth certificate. I put the folder onto the coffee table. Her body twitched very subtly that if you blinked you almost would have missed it. She crossed her arms over her chest and cocked a brow. "What is this?" she asked.

"Why are we acting like we don't know what this is, Teresa?"

"I don't want to talk about this with you."

"Then who are you gonna talk about it with? Nevaeh?"

Teresa looked away, finally losing whatever staring contest we had. Just for a little, I saw some emotion, mostly regret but was concealed by her mask again.

"It's time, Teresa. You cannot continue living this lie. Because it is only a matter of time Neveah will know. If it is not from me, then someone else wouldn't hesitate to."

"How do you even know about this?" she asked in an accusing tone as if I was snooping for answers.

"That is the least of your worries," I reminded her.

"Listen, I know I know. I messed up. But you don't understand."

"Spare me."

"You don't understand how guilty I've felt over the years. Each time I looked at her, I knew what I did and paid for the consequences all the time." Her hands slid to the back of her neck.

I almost wanted to laugh, because somehow she could make this about her aside from accepting it and being honest. "Why'd you do it?" I asked her.

"What?" she replied with a vein starting to form on her forehead. Her eyes widened and squinted a bit as if she wasn't sure if she heard me the first time.

"Why'd you do it?" I repeated.

Teresa took a deep breath, wrapping herself more with her cardigan. "Well, it's a long story."

"I got time."

"Well, things were great before the girls were born. They were more than great," she could barely hold up a smile trying to reminisce about the past. She took her feet onto the couch. "After being married for a couple of years, things began to die down and he became a negligent husband with time, who was not interested in anything other than work which I tried to understand because without work then how would things get paid? But our conversations began to change too. Nothing interesting to talk about aside from work and the baby. Natalie was born by then. Life was dull and boring. I used to play stupid games like tunnel run, to pass time, because there was nothing else to do. One day in our neighborhood, there was a gentleman, you know, Maleek. He was young, smart, hardworking but also exhilarating. At first, he wasn't doing anything unusual, just being a kind neighbor." A smile was able to form slightly on her lips.

She continued, "But then he began to flirt with me and with the girls' father always occupied I had time to flirt back. I started loving the attention. We started talking on chat, then on call. Whenever my hubby went out, me and him would go on friend dates. Though, I don't think they actually were "friend dates". I just say that to make myself feel better. Nothing out of the limit yet.
