Currently, trying to have a mood board for this story. It has been trial and error so far...In this chapter you will be introduced to a new character that is in one of my other stories. And more as we progress deeper in this story.

Chapter 20: Eyes, Nose, Lips

Damon

Christmas Day

My mom called earlier to wish me a Merry Christmas. I haven't spent Christmas with my parents for a few years now. I just couldn't act like a family with my father. Thanksgiving was more than enough. I looked out the window while drinking warm coffee. It snowed again but it wasn't heavy. I couldn't even call it real snow. It was not like the snow I grew up with.

The snow I grew up with was so thick and plentiful that it would take all day to clean through. Luckily for me, my parents always paid people to do it but I could only imagine how hard they worked. My mother always told me that I needed to appreciate the things other people do to make my life easier, even the ones I don't see.

"Amore, are you spending Christmas alone?" my mom asked through the phone. She would ask this each time I did not show up to her home.

"Not exactly," I uttered, taking another sip of my drink.

"Ohh," she said with the sound interest in her voice. "Do tell. Who is she? Don't tell me Nicolas is with you again. I'm telling you, you both need to find someone special or I'm going to start to think you're secretly together...which I have no issues with--"

"Mom relax--I'm not with Nick right now or in that way."

"Oh, well, I wouldn't be entirely shocked because of the way you all call each other sweetheart, baby, honey. But I guess you are just joking."

I began to message my temple because my mom was really something right now. "You know we are joking."

"Ops, scusa! I'm sorry! I was assuming you were joking," she clarified. "But tell me who she is. Is it someone I know?"

My mom had always been like this. She was always interested in who I was dating and if I was seeing someone. She has always been great with my past girlfriends. However, I haven't found anyone serious for the past few years until now. I was always serious with Nevaeh. "Yes, you know her."

I could hear a small gasp. "Is she Nevaeh? Because it she is her, thank goodness you fixed whatever you messed up last time--"

"Mom!"

"What? Nevaeh was such a great girl and seems to have grown into an amazing woman. And you let her slip away. Really, I didn't understand what happened." You wouldn't want to know, I thought. She continued her small speech, "It just felt like you were really in love with her. Head over shoes in love with her. After the accident, something in you changed. When you and Nevaeh broke up, it didn't feel right to me. Because you were just so in love with her the day before and it was like a complete change."

I did change. Christian's death did change me. Some may argue for the better, others would say for the worse. People thought that I turned into a complete fuckboy after the breakup which I was for a moment. But it just wasn't enough. Nothing could fill that void. Nothing could pair that piece I needed. "Well, if this makes you feel any better, yes Nevaeh is she."
