song of the chapter:
712PM ; futureMargarita stood in front of Sarah's full-length mirror, running her fingers through her hair as the sound of laughter and chatter filled the air. They were getting ready for a beach party on the cut, a gathering that promised sun, music, and a chance to let loose. Sarah was rifling through her wardrobe, looking for the perfect outfit, while Margarita took a moment to gather her thoughts.
"Okay, spill it," Sarah said, turning to her with a teasing smile as she pulled out a cute sundress. "What's been going on with you and Rafe? You two are practically glued together lately."
Margarita rolled her eyes but couldn't help the smile that crept onto her lips. "It's just... complicated."
"Complicated how?" Sarah pressed, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "You've been spending a lot of time together. I want the juicy details!"
Margarita took a deep breath, deciding it was time to open up. "So, remember that night after the party? He ended up at my place."
"No way!" Sarah exclaimed, her jaw dropping. "And? Did you—"
"Not like that!" Margarita interrupted, a laugh escaping her. "We have but not that night... we just talked. It was... nice, actually. He was really sweet."
"Sweet?" Sarah raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at her lips. "Is this the same Rafe who's been a total jerk in the past?"
"Yeah, well, he has his moments," Margarita admitted, feeling a bit shy. "He actually listened to me, you know? Like, really listened."
Sarah's expression softened. "I'm glad to hear that. You deserve someone who treats you right. So what happened after? Are you two... official now?"
Margarita hesitated, her thoughts drifting to the way Rafe had made her feel—alive, exciting, but also a little lost. "I don't know. I mean, we've been spending time together, but it's not like we're dating or anything. It's just... fun."
"Fun?" Sarah echoed, a knowing look in her eyes. "Margarita, fun can turn into something more if you let it. Just be careful, okay? I don't want you to get hurt."
"I know, I know," Margarita said, rolling her eyes again but feeling the weight of Sarah's concern. "But I feel like I'm finally starting to find myself again. It's been a while since I felt this... carefree."
"Then enjoy it! Just don't forget who you are in the process," Sarah said, rummaging through her makeup bag and pulling out some lip gloss. "You're still you, no matter who you're with."
Margarita nodded, appreciating her friend's support. "Thanks, Sarah. I really needed to hear that."
"Now, let's get you ready for this party!" Sarah chirped, throwing her arms around Margarita and pulling her toward the makeup table. "We need to make sure you look cute. Rafe won't know what hit him!"
Margarita laughed, the tension in her shoulders easing as she allowed herself to enjoy the moment. They spent the next few minutes getting ready, swapping stories, and sharing laughter. Sarah expertly applied makeup, highlighting Margarita's features while reminding her to embrace her natural beauty.
Finally, Margarita stepped back in front of the mirror, taking in the full effect. She wore a vibrant bikini top under a lightweight cover-up, the fabric flowing gently around her legs. Her hair hung in soft waves, and a hint of shimmer highlighted her cheeks. She felt confident and ready to face the night.
"Damn girl, you look amazing!" Sarah said, giving her a playful shove. "Now let's hit the beach and show those kooks how it's done!"
"Let's do it!" Margarita replied, excitement bubbling up inside her. They grabbed their bags and headed out the door, the sun setting behind them, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink.
