Y/n walks alongside her mother Amina feeling a bit more anxious as the time to leave draws nearer. "We are almost to Platform 9 3/4." Her mother says while Y/n looks at her with a puzzled expression.
"9 3/4? But that has to be a mistake." Y/n objects, furrowing her brows in confusion. "There is only a Platform 9 and 10, there is no platform between those two." She looks up at her mother bewildered by this, to her knowledge, nonexistent platform.
Amina chuckles softly at her daughter's bewilderment. "Dear, Platform 9 3/4 is a hidden platform for Hogwarts students like yourself. And you see that barrier between Platform 9 and 10?" She smiles motioning towards the middle barrier up ahead to which Y/n nods in response. "That is how we get to Platform 9 3/4"
"What? So, what are we walking through that wall?" Y/n says with a hint of sarcasm in her voice as she laughs.
"Yep. Go on then." Amina says pushing her softly towards the barrier. Y/n looks up at her mother stunned not thinking that's really what needed to be done. She just shakes her head, her mouth hanging open in disbelief. "Trust me it'll work, I'll be right behind you." Y/n looks awkwardly at her mother then over at the barrier. She decides to trust that she won't slam her face into the wall and hurries with her things going straight through the wall. She looks around in awe, seeing that she is now in fact at Platform 9 3/4. "See? I told you it'd be fine." Her mothers voice appears as she walks through the barrier from behind her.
"Whoa... Wicked" Y/n looks around while her mother tries maneuvering pthrough the crowd of people.
"I wonder if he's here today..." Amina whispers not knowing that her daughter could hear what she had said to herself.
"If who's here mum?" Y/n queries raising a curious brow at her odd comment.
Amina shakes her head dismissing Y/n's question. "No one sweetheart. But now this is where we must depart." Her mother's voice is soft as she squats down in front of her placing her hands on Y/n's shoulders.
"Really? Are... Are you sure you can't come with me?" Y/n frowns grabbing on to her mother's wrists beginning to feel emotional.
"I'm sorry my dear I can't." She places a hand on Y/n's cheek, her eyes glossing over as she admires her face. "I'll miss you. It'll be really empty in the house without you. But-"
"I'll do great things at Hogwarts?" Y/n interrupts her with a small chuckle. "I know mum I... I'll try my best and make you proud." She says before throwing her arms around her mother burying her face into Amina's chest.
Amina pulls Y/n close, placing one hand on the back of her head and the other on her back. "Oh honey... I am already proud of you. You'll be late, you have to go now." She pulls away, pushing her back gently. "I love you dear." Amina kisses her forehead softly and smiles, her eyes beginning to fill with tears.
Noticing the tears welling up in her mother's eyes, Y/n smiles softly knowing how hard this is for the both of them. "I love you too mum. I'll see you soon enough." She pauses and quickly jumps forward hugging her mother one more time. "I'll be ok... don't worry." Y/n pulls away as a small yet soft smile forms across her lips.
