Y/n hurries off to the Great Hall running a little late for breakfast due to oversleeping. Luckily, it's the weekend so she didn't miss any classes. She walks into the hall hearing her stomach begin rumbling with hunger as the aroma of breakfast hits her nose. Her eyes scan the Gryffindor table trying to find a spot to sit. Ignoring the whispered taunts from her fellow housemates as she walks along the table, she spots Harry who's sat talking with Ron and Hermione. Y/n makes her way over to the three and takes a seat next to Harry who turns his attention to her for a moment. "Oh hello Y/n Good morning."

"Good Morning Harry." Y/n greets him with a smile before making herself a plate, ready to eat some breakfast. Her gaze turns to the trio as they continue on with their conversation, Hermione's gaze meeting hers for a quick moment before turning away.

Y/n chooses to ignore it, grabbing her fork now full of eggs and taking a bite of her food. She chooses to eat and mind her own business when the trio's conversation hits her ears. "Harry, are you saying..." Hermione's sentence trails off, her tone hinting with a serious undertone.

"That's what the dog's guarding. That's what Snape wants." The weight of Harry's tone piqued Y/n's interest, bringing her attention to their conversation.

"What's safer than Gringotts?" Ron's inquiry held a note of bewilderment mixed with genuine curiosity as he looked back at Harry.

Harry responds in a low and hushed tone, "One place, according to Hagrid. Hogwarts."

Y/n's eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the conversation the trio are having, her curiosity making her want to ask what they're on about. Hermione shrugs, a small sigh escaping her lips as she chimes in. "Well, whatever it is, it must be really valuable."

"Or really dangerous." Harry states in a grim tone, a hint of determination mixed into it as his gaze falls to his untouched food on his plate.

"Hey Harry, what are you-" Y/n begins to ask about their conversation, with a sudden need to know now that her curiosity is piqued. But before she can finish asking her question, an owl comes beating into the hall.

"Bit early for mail, isn't it?" Hermione queries as the students look up seeing an all-white owl descending towards them.

"That's Hedwig!" Harry's expression softens seeing his magical pet flying down with mail in her claws. All watch as she swoops down with a long, thin package. Harry slips Hedwig a piece of his uneaten toast, strips open the parcel and finds inside, a sleek mahogany broomstick. "It's a broomstick!"

"That's not just a broomstick Harry. That's the Nimbus 2000!"  Ron exclaims scooting closer to get a look at his brand-new broomstick, his face filled with awe at the sight.

"But who...?" Harry glances up, Y/n being a little nosy, follows his gaze to Professor McGonagall who was looking his way. Then she quickly turns away and turns his attention back to his broomstick laid on the table. While he and the others talk about his new broom, Y/n simply goes back to eating her breakfast.
