Y/n sits staring down at her plate full of food, taking her fork and poking at her mashed potatoes with a small sigh of defeat. It seems the other students may not be talking about her and her father, but she can't shake the terrible feeling of hearing the murmurs and looks of disdain from the others. Everyone on her side of the table are scooted away from her by at least a foot or two, even Harry and Ron. She looks up watching as the other students all talk happily amongst themselves.
Her sadness slowly turned into anger, angry knowing that this was going to happen. Angry that people are judging her already for something that she had nothing to do with. Something that happened when she was only a mere baby. Her eyes fall to her plate once more, she lifts the fork full of potatoes and brings it up to her mouth taking a bite.
Y/n decides to just eat silently, keeping to herself but then Hermione's voice catches her attention. "Nearly headless? How can you be nearly headless?" Her voice filled with genuine confusion and curiosity. Y/n's eye flickering to the ghost hovering in front of the trio that Hermione is referring to.
"Like this." Seizing himself by the left ear, Nearly Headless Nick swings his entire head off his neck and onto his shoulder, as if it were on a hinge.
"Ugh... well there goes my appetite." Y/n utters the words to herself and pushes her plate away from her. Feeling eyes on her she looks off towards the trio, seeing Hermione narrowing her eyes at her once again. She rolls her eyes at the bushy haired girl's burning stare and decides to match her gaze, narrowing her own eyes back to her. Hermione huffs silently at her and turns her gaze away from Y/n causing her to let out a sigh. Y/n's gaze then moves over to look at Harry and Ron who have gone back to their previous conversation.

Y/n follows behind her fellow Gryffindor students off to the Gryffindor Common Room, being led by Ron's older brother Percy Weasley. As they ascend up the staircase her gaze finds the trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione up ahead of her whispering to each other. She notices Harry starting to look back at her causing her gaze to immediately look down at her feet. The feeling of embarrassment about getting caught staring at the three of them bubbling up inside her. Then the crowd of Gryffindor students stops, and her attention is brought back up to the front of the crowd. She watches as the portrait swings open to reveal a round hole in the wall. The students all scramble through it, into the Gryffindor Common Room.
The students enter a cozy, round room, filled with squashy armchairs. At the top of a spiral staircase, are two doors. Percy turns around, facing the students, "Girls' dormitory to the left. Boys to the right. You'll find your belongings have already been brought up. Any questions?" He asks, looking around the room at the others. Since no one says anything, he continues on, "Then goodnight all. Oh, and don't forget. forget. Before retiring, please place all living potion ingredients in your cupboards. This includes slugs, fire, beetles and cutworms. Sweet dreams."
