Beach Day

My eyes open slowly, the sun peaks through the blinds. I feel a warm body behind me, and arms laying across my stomach. I roll over to face Katie. She was still asleep, lying peacefully. Her eyes begin to flicker open.

"Goodmorning Kay," I whisper softly.
"Morning," she replies half awake.
"Awwww, look at you two," Steph, and Beth say synchronised as they walk into the lounge room with coffees.
I roll over to face them, tear marks lay on my face still after crying last night.
"Oh, are you alright?" Asks Steph.
"Yeah.. just missed my family last night, Katie was there and held me close to comfort me. Hents why we are cuddled up on the couch." I reply.
I roll back over towards Katie.

"Would you like a coffee, I'm about to make one?" I ask politely. She nods and I get up and walk to the kitchen. I make Katie and I our coffees and get greeted with a goodmorning by Leah, Kyra and Viv who had just woken up.
I walk over to the couch and hand Katie her coffee. I take my coffee and sit beside Steph. We have a short conversation about London and what she recommends to do in her free time.

"I think we should hit the beach today, it's nice and hot," Says Viv. We all agree and head home to pack some stuff for the beach.

Once Katie and I arrive home, we head to our rooms and change into bikinis, and pack some towels and beach games. We head back to the car and meet the girls at the beach.

I lay my towel out beside Kyra's towel and lay down taking in the sun. After around half an hour of laying, I decide to go for a swim.

I walk over to Katie. "Hey, I'm going for a swim, want to come?" I ask.
"Absolutely," she says getting up, following me.

We walk into the water and swim in the soft waves. I splash Katie and laugh. She tackles me under the water cutely. She puts her hand out for me to hold. I grab her hand and interlock our fingers. We swim through the water, hand in hand before deciding to get out.

We don't let go of each other's hands which was a big mistake. As we approached the towels, Steph, Kyra and Beth shot us smirks. I let go of Katie's hand quickly, after realising I was still holding her hand.
"We all saw that, you guys would be so cute together," Kyra says giggling.
"She's a friend," I say sternly.

As a team, we decided to play volleyball. We set up a net and played a very intense game. One time during the game, Leah fell backwards because she tripped over Steph's foot. It was hilarious.

Eventually the sun began to set. We all sat on the beach watching the beautiful colours of the sky fade to darkness. I sat beside Katie and rested my head on her shoulder. After the sun had set, we packed up our stuff and headed home. We went to bed after dinner as we had training tomorrow morning.
