Twenty-Two

Travis POV 

Taylor and i made our way back to where her family sat as they watched TV. I had been trying to convince Taylor to call Tree and explain what had happened but she was being stubborn and not doing it, so naturally i am going t get Andrea to tell her to 

"Andrea can you please tell your stubborn daughter how important it is for her to call Tree" I say as we sit down 

"Taylor you have to" Andrea agrees with me 

"I don't want to" She complains but takes her phone out of her pocket anyway 

Reluctantly Taylor presses call on Tree's contact and after just one ring Tree's voice fills the room 

"Hey Taylor" 

"Hi Tree" Taylor replies softly while fiddling with her hands 

"Are you okay?"

"I fired Daniel" Taylor blurts out 

"What Taylor why did you do that?"

"He uhhh- Tree i didn't mean for it to happen and i didn't want him to but he got really touchy and kissed me" Taylor mumbles, shocked looks wash over Austin and Scott's faces after she says it

"Taylor what? Are you okay?" Tree quickly asks, concern evident in her voice 

"I think i am, i fired him and told him to get out"

"Okay well how do you want to handle this?" 

"What do you mean?" Taylor asks 

"Well that is assault what he did. I know that he was meant to protect you and sometimes a small touch now and then may be necessary to guide you were you need to go but what you are saying he did is not okay and it is assault so i am asking what road you want me to take on this" Tree explains and Taylor looks up at me with a worried look before speaking 

"What can you do?" She slowly asks 

"I can either get him to say sorry and make sure he doesn't get hired in this field again or i can figure out how to get him charged and then also make sure he never works for people again" Tree offers both options

"I don't know" Taylor expresses 

"Tree what do i do" Taylor begins to cry and i quickly pull her into my lap to provide as much comfort as i can 

"Sweetheart i can't tell you what to do but you can let me know when you decide" 

"Okay" Taylor wipes her tears 

"Taylor i do want to say that i am so sorry that this happened. I really thought that he was good at what he did but clearly i didn't do enough research and i am so sorry you had to go through this" Tree expresses 

"No it isn't your fault but can we please not have someone else?"

"Of course maybe ask if Travis wants his job back" Tree laughs and Taylor joins in 

The phone call comes to an end and Taylor moves around in my lap to wrap her arms around my neck, i keep a tight hold on her waist and kiss her head while she sits there 

"Would you want to have the job again?" Taylor whispers into my neck 

"Princess if you need that in order for you to feel safe then of course i will, but their are things we also have to talk about if i am taking on that role again" I explain then place a gentle kiss on her head 

"Like what?"

"How about we talk about that after right now you have your family who is watching us and i would guess they are confused" I mention, moving my head slightly up to see both Scott and Austin looking at Taylor shocked because of the phone call 

Taylor pulls her head away from my neck, looking over he shoulder to see her dad and brother.

Taylor POV 

The thought that Daniel putting his hands on me and hurting me was assault hadn't yet crossed my mind. I knew it was wrong but my mind hadn't gone to say it was assault but hearing Tree say it, it was now true which kind of made it worse. 

I spin in Travis' lap so now my body is facing my family who is visibly shocked 

"Do you have questions?" I ask softly, not really sure what to say 

"Baby girl i will be in the kitchen, come get me when if you need" Travis says as he lifts me up effortlessly and places me on the couch seat next to him but i grab his hand as he goes to walk off 

"Travis" I whisper 

"You have got this i promise but at any point you really need me i will be over there" 

Travis walks out of the room and i turn to once again look at my dad and brother 

"He assaulted you" Austin yells 

"Well no i mean yes, he kissed me and i pushed him away and fired him" I explain 

"Why did he kiss you?" Dad asks angrily

"I don't know" I shrug 

"Well people don't just kiss people Taylor"

"What are you implying?" I snap back 

"Was anyone else home with you when it happened? Where were you?" He deflects 

"I was in MY house in My room with someone who was meant to protect me" My eyes started to sting with each word that i spoke

"Why did you let him in your room?" 

"Okay if you are trying to say that i wanted him to kiss me just say it and stop beating around the bush"

"Well Travis' was your bodyguard too and see where that got you" He snaps and that's what causes the tears to start 

"Are you kidding me? I am in love with Travis and i would never cheat on him. It is disgusting that you think i would" I cry out 

"I thought that maybe you would want to know if i was doing okay after being assaulted in my own house by someone i was paying to make sure i was safe but i was clearly wrong, if you truly think so little of me dad please don't bother yourself to talk to me anymore" I rush to wipe my tears as they run down my face 

I quickly get off the couch and walk into the kitchen where Travis and my mum are standing having a conversation, i walk over and grab Travis hand before trying to pull him out of the house but he can clearly tell i am crying so he grabs my waist to stop me 

"What happened?" He wipes my tears 

"I need to go, please" I beg 

"Okay we can go but you need to tell me what has gotten you so upset" 

"It doesn't matter please get me out of here" 

"Okay princess" Travis takes my hand as i hurry us out the door without saying goodbye to anyone 

"I think it's time to go on that holiday" I blurt out when we get in the car

"Where do you want to go?" Travis asks as he drives, one hand on the wheel and the other gripping my thigh

"Away from the world" I offer and he nods 

"Think of a place and I'll take you there baby" 

"I love you"

"I love you more sweet girl"
