Sora was right about the puzzles getting more and more difficult as the hours ticked on. However, the rest of the players were helping to complete the puzzles. Aya was smart when she thought of these games, trying to break them, pulling tricks with a couple of them. There were down to fifteen players since the start.
Sora was the last one to cross over to the next game. He looked back at the two players who were killed during the last game. He shook his head – they were so close to the end. Sora looked towards the other players who were getting tired and beaten down from the puzzles that Aya decided were fun.
He pulled out the phone, seeing how much time was left. They had thirty minutes left to get to the top of the parking garage and figure out how to defeat Aya. Sora knew there was most likely a game on the very top. And Sora planned to make sure it was just him facing Aya in the end, no matter what she had planned. Even if it got him killed, Sora would get the other players home.
As Sora looked up, he noticed a camera nestled in the corner. This was the first time that Sora saw a camera at any of the games. Aya – and Mira – were watching them. Sora walked towards the camera, looking up at it. "I will beat you, Aya,"
Aya stared down at the phone, watching as Sora ran off with the other players. Aya was starting to panic. When she agreed to this, she didn't think Sora would be in the game against her. These puzzles were meant to really take the players out, it was planned that way, but with Sora in the mix, he knew Aya. He knew her better than anyone else. Sora could see ahead what Aya had planned.
The puzzles were something she took pride in, yet Sora was beating them in record time. The players were nearly to the top of the parking garage, something that Aya didn't think would happen. However, she did see the blimps going down around her that night. The players were coming out in heaps, taking down the face cards without issue. They wanted these games to end, and they wanted to go home.
Aya lowered her arm to her side.
Becoming a citizen of this world, Aya knew that going home wasn't an option for her. When Mira approached her for the task of Queen of Diamonds, Aya wasn't opposite to the idea. As much as she hated the world she was dropped down into, Aya thought the idea of being the Queen of Diamonds was a good idea.
Aya had to pretend to be a simple player, especially when Sora entered this world. Now, Aya didn't know how this was working or what happened in their original world, she just agreed to it. Mira never explained to her why she picked Aya for this role, she just said she could picture her in that role.
Aya accepted it.
The whole "death" thing was Mira's idea. Aya needed to leave the Beach before the face cards were announced. Mira suggested that Aya finally say she was finished with the games. However, instead of using one of the deadly lasers, the laser would just look like Aya was killed. Aya heard Sora's cries – but she was surprised he never checked for a pulse. Aya was vocal about her hatred for this world, and while that was true, Aya was there for longer than Sora thought. With players coming in every day, Aya just waited until the day Sora appeared. Sora didn't see through her acting; he didn't question it.
