Sora looked down at Aya. "At least we know that you can't pretend to be dead." Sora crossed his arms. Aya took upon herself to test her theory, having Sora hit her with something that would normally badly hurt a person. However, no matter what Aya did, the game didn't register her "death". Sora crossed his arms as the announcer said there were six on the red team and three on the green team left.
Yuumi sat down next to Aya, "They probably have some kind of detection of our heart rates."
Aya smacked her hand against the ground, getting up on her knees. "How are we supposed to survive then?" Aya asked. "I don't want to see Sora die."
"I don't wanna die." Yuumi said. "And I'm pretty damn sure you don't either."
Sora stood there, listening to Yuumi and Aya bickering back and forth about her theory and what they should be doing. Sora closed his eyes, sighing heavily. There was something about the title of the game that stuck out of Sora – they were supposed to work in teams. It was only a matter of time before someone from the red team killed their very own. The game said the team with the most members won.
"If you think they wanted us to work together-"
"They did," Sora said, interrupting Yuumi. He looked towards Sora. "We all could have survived if we just stuck together and didn't kill each other. We would've won by default."
Yuumi stood back up. "Or we all died, Sora. And you're talking about the militants who have trigger fingers. You give them the chance to kill somebody, they'll take it." Yuumi didn't believe that if they stuck together, it would have kept them alive. He had played a couple of Hearts games in the past, and they were nothing like the one in front of him. "This is a Hearts game, Sora, they fuck with you."
"Exactly." Sora said. "Giving the players the option to kill each other, particularly ones who have been killing in games before, is the play."
"What do you mean?" Aya asked as she stood up.
Sora crossed his arms. "They gave us the option to kill, some people ran and hid the best they could while others searched for hidden weapons. Hell, I did the same." Sora explained. "We didn't have to." Now, Sora knew it was a long shot that the players actually listened to someone like Sora. But it was something that should have come into Sora's head the moment the game started.
The first thing on everyone's mind was to survive, just like in every other game.
Yuumi rolled his eyes. "Now you say something, you only have three players left on your team, Sora. Regardless of that, you'll die anyway." Yuumi said.
"So be it."
"Stop talking like that," Aya said. "No one else is going to die." Aya didn't know what they were going to do, but the killing would stop now. They still have over an hour to figure out how to keep everyone else from dying, even if Aya felt the ones doing the killing deserved to die.
