Ch~10 || Threat

A few weeks later 

Today was the day I was going to be announced as the CEO of my father's company. A role I never expected to take.

As i sat in the front row and smoothened my blazer and took a deep breath, Anxiety bubbled up inside me. The Hall was filled with My father's former colleagues, investors, my family members, Taehyung's family members as well other businessmen and women. The cameramen and reporters buzzed around the area making me feel nervous as it.

"Are you ready?" A voice came through as i turned and saw Taehyung sitting beside me. I forced a smile ignoring the knot in my stomach and nodded. He held my hand and said "This company is yours, something your father always wanted."

"I just wish he was here and this wasn't happening in such a chaos" I muttered.

I nod as the ceremony began.

"Ladies and Gentlemen," The chairman of the board began "Thank you for attending this Ceremony. We are here to announce the New leader of the Kang Corp. As you all know know, after the tragic passing of CEO Kang Min Joon, Jungkook, His elder son was given the position but now that he has resigned the post, the board after a lot of discussion had chosen the New CEO"

I stood next to Taehyung and i could feel the glare of my uncle penetrate my back.

"Today, We are honored to announce the new CEO. I now introduce you to the daughter of our late CEO Kang Yn."

Everyone applauded which i could barely hear over the pounding in my heart. I stepped forward onto the stage taking the mike.

"Thank you everyone. It an honor to be here, thought i wished this happened under different circumstances in the presence of my father Kang Min Joon. My father with huge amount of hard work has built this company and made this successful for decades and i hope to carry on his legacy and bring more success to this company."

I paused studying everyone's faces before continuing "I can see many faces of judgment about a female CEO. I know it's a huge transition. But Im not alone. I have my brother Jungkook. And my... Husband Kim Taehyung of Kim Techs to help me. With their help Ill make sure this company reaches new heights. Thank you" I said handing the mic back to the host.

Once again the crown erupted into a applause as i noticed the judgmental looks and how many thought i wasn't the right choice. Just as i was about to get down My uncle's voice sliced through the air like knife

"Excuse me, YN, but may I remind everyone that leadership should be in the hands of someone with experience? And I believe I can take the role just fine"

The room fell silent and my body tensed. I saw Taehyung walk onto the stage and stood beside me as i took a deep breath and spoke "Uncle Jae, I appreciate your opinion but i think the board members have made the decision after a lot of thinking and the decision has been made"

I could see Uncle Jae's eyes darken with rage. I continued "Im here to carry my father's legacy and I will not let anyone undermine that especially not for personal gain"

My uncle scoffed and said "We'll see how long that goes. This company needs a leader who knows how to lead the world.  I have experience of years, which you clearly do not have"

Before I could respond, Taehyung took my mic and spoke "Mr.Kang, with all due respect This is Yn's moment as the former CEO and founder's daughter. The board has made the choice and let's respect that and moreover the company needs fresh ideas and new perspectives which i believe Yn has"

Jae's jaw tightened as he shot a glare towards be before folding his arms and leaning back in his chair.

"Thank you Mr.Kang" he said before addressing the audience "Im really proud of my Wife Yn who has taken the role of the CEO. She is no more just my wife but a women who is well driven to carry on the legacy of her father. Let's all cheer for her" He said with a proud smile as everyone yelled a Yes. I smiled and whispered a thank you as we got down the stage.

"You seemed proud to announce me as your wife." I said as we walked to our seats.

"Well, You are my wife and we certainly cannot let the tension between our families known by someone else so... Yeah" He said.

Taehyung's pov

I watched as Yn interacted with the investors. She had a polite guarded smile as she talked to the group with a glass of wine.. I stayed nearby ready to step in if she needed me. She had made an good impression and people seemed impressed by her intelligence. I noticed Mr.Kang lurking nearby waiting to make his move. He approached her as she stood alone with me glancing around.

"Congratulations Mrs.Kim" He said with insincerity and used Mrs.Kim to mock our forced marriage.

"You are quite the smart women. You scored the position of the CEO and also a billionaire and the CEO of the top most company. Smooth I'd say. It's not long before everything fall's apart my dear niece. You are too naive for this world and your husband or let's say rival husband, Who killed your father isn't going to be of any help. It won't be long before he takes the company from you and you'd be left with nothing put shattered pieces." He said in a dangerous tone.

I noticed Yn's fist curl as she gritted her teeth and said "I know what you are trying to do Uncle Jae. Im not afraid of you or your empty threats and I know better to handle my husband than you could ever." 

Her uncle gave a smirk "We'll see dear niece. You can fool the board, your husband but not me"  

My blood boiled as i watched him leave. I went towards her and noticed her hands slightly trembling while clutching the glass of wine as she let out a shaky break. Without thinking, i placed my hand around her waist guiding her to a empty corner and made her sit and took the glass of wine placing it on the table beside. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. He is trying to intimidate me but I won't let him" She said.

"Oh I know. You are brave that you don't even think twice before standing up against me so I wouldn't be surprised if you even punch his face" I said trying to lighten her mood as she let out a chuckle.

"You are not that bad of a person but that doesn't mean i still don't think you murdered my father" She said.

I groaned "Come on, Im trying to help here and you are saying i killed your father." I said holding her by her waist pulling her close.

 Our faces inches away. As if one move would make our lips touch.

"What are you doing?" She whispered. I could feel her heart race, her cheeks flushing red under the amber lights. I wanted nothing more than to kiss her senseless but didn't want her to hate me more than she already did even though she had warmed up to.

"I won't do anything Until you say so..."
