Miku and Teto stared in shock at the empty road, their hearts pounding as the sound of screeching tires faded into the distance. The van that had taken Moon, Meiko, and the Kagamines had disappeared, but they were far from safe. Something was very wrong.
Miku’s breath hitched in her throat as she looked at Teto. “We need to follow them.”
Teto nodded. “We don’t have a choice. Let’s go.”
Without another word, the two girls dashed out of the studio, the adrenaline coursing through their veins. Miku grabbed her phone and checked the location from the brief glimpse she had caught of the license plate, but before they could even process what was happening, the sound of the van’s engine roared back into their ears. It had turned a corner, and the two girls gave chase, Miku’s legs pumping as fast as they could carry her.
It was a mad dash through the city, the streets blurring past them as they pursued the now-vanishing vehicle. They jumped into an alleyway, skillfully dodging the rush of cars and debris that clogged the streets in their frantic rush.
Teto gritted her teeth. "We need to get to that van before it’s too late."
Miku nodded, but as they rounded a corner, something far more ominous caught their attention. A towering figure stood in the distance—a black and silver robot, its sleek, terrifying design casting long shadows on the street as it stalked forward, arms bristling with mechanical weapons.
Ritsu stood atop the robotic behemoth, a wicked grin on her face as she watched them approach. The mechanical armor she wore gleamed under the city’s dying lights, each step she took causing the ground to tremble slightly beneath her.
"So, you've followed me," Ritsu said, her voice oozing with disdain. "You didn’t think you’d catch me so easily, did you?"
Miku’s eyes widened. “Ritsu!” she shouted, her voice filled with both anger and fear. "What have you done with them?!"
Ritsu tilted her head, a mocking smile on her lips. “You’re too late, Miku. You’re all too late. Everything’s going according to plan.”
From behind her, the massive mechanical figure, Robo-Teto, flickered to life. The robot was a near-exact replica of Teto, but with gleaming steel and dark metal instead of flesh and bone. Its eyes glowed a harsh red, and it moved with an unnatural grace.
Teto’s hands clenched into fists. “What is this, Ritsu? What are you trying to do?"
Ritsu’s smirk widened. “Why be part of a group when I can create something better?” She tapped her helmet, her fingers caressing the intricate mechanisms. "This... is my masterpiece. Robo-Teto, and soon, the others will join her. You and your friends will serve me as my loyal slaves."
Miku’s heart raced, but her voice was sharp with fury. "Not if I can help it!"
Before they could react, Robo-Teto lunged toward them with inhuman speed, its mechanical limbs whirring as it attacked. Miku and Teto barely dodged, the force of its movements causing a shockwave that rattled the nearby buildings.
Ritsu’s voice rang out, a taunt, “You’re no match for her. She’s stronger, faster, and controlled.”
Miku and Teto fought with all they had. Miku used her agility to weave around the mechanical beast’s attacks, while Teto, with her fiery spirit, lashed out, trying to land a hit. But Robo-Teto was too fast, too powerful. Every blow it dealt sent them stumbling back.
Teto grunted as Robo-Teto’s fist slammed into her side, sending her sprawling into the pavement. Miku gasped, rushing to her side, but they had no time to recover.
“We need a plan!” Miku shouted, her voice desperate. “We can’t keep up with her like this!”
“I'm trying!" Teto panted, barely able to get to her feet. "But she’s too strong!"
Ritsu laughed from above, watching their struggle with delight. “This is only the beginning, Miku. Soon, everyone will be under my control. You’ll be nothing but a puppet.”
Miku’s eyes flashed with determination. She couldn’t let this happen. Not to Teto, not to the others. With a grunt of effort, she managed to push Robo-Teto back temporarily with a blast of energy, buying them just enough time to think.
Teto took a deep breath and turned to Miku. "I have an idea—follow my lead."
They took a step back, trying to regroup as Robo-Teto advanced. Teto whispered something to Miku, a plan forming between them. It was risky, but it was their only chance.
As Robo-Teto lunged again, the two girls leaped in opposite directions. Miku performed a rapid dance of quick jabs and acrobatic maneuvers, pulling Robo-Teto’s attention away from Teto. Meanwhile, Teto slipped behind the mechanical beast, ready to deliver a powerful strike.
But just as Teto’s hand was about to connect with Robo-Teto’s exposed back, Ritsu’s voice rang out. “Not so fast!”
The robotic Teto twisted with terrifying speed, knocking Teto off her feet with a backhanded blow. Miku’s heart dropped as she saw Teto crumple to the ground again, unable to get up.
“This is it, Miku,” Ritsu said, her voice dripping with malice. "You can’t win this fight."
Miku, her hands shaking, rushed to Teto’s side. She knew they had to leave before things got worse.
“Run!” Miku shouted, grabbing Teto’s hand. “We’re not done yet!”
With no other option, Miku and Teto dashed into the nearest street, sprinting away from the confrontation. Robo-Teto continued to pursue them, but the girls were too quick, weaving between alleyways and taking sharp turns.
As they ran, Miku’s breath caught in her throat as she looked up and saw the destruction unfolding in the sky above Tokyo. In the distance, a massive airship was hovering over the city, its massive cannons glowing ominously as it fired down upon the city below. Explosions erupted from every corner, sending debris flying through the streets.
Miku’s blood ran cold. "What the—"
"Ritsu… she’s gone too far," Teto murmured, her eyes wide with disbelief. "What is she planning now?"
The sound of destruction filled the air, growing louder with each passing second.
The two girls didn’t stop to watch the chaos. They ran faster, knowing they had to get out. They couldn’t let Ritsu’s plan succeed, and they certainly couldn’t face Robo-Teto head-on without backup.
After sprinting through the streets, they spotted an abandoned car. Without hesitation, they jumped inside, hot-wiring the vehicle and speeding down the road, leaving the destruction behind.
Miku glanced back, seeing the airship casting a shadow over Tokyo, the bright flashes of cannon fire making the city look like a warzone.
"How could she do this?" Miku whispered, gripping the steering wheel tighter. "What is she trying to achieve?"
Teto, her face tense, shook her head. "I don’t know, but we need to stop her, Miku. We can’t let her destroy everything."
The car roared down the street, leaving behind the crumbling city.
But they both knew one thing for sure: the battle was far from over.
