My guess was just about right, because the second I step foot under the shade of the Bus stop, The familiar hum of Max's engine meets my ears as his car approaches over the hill.

I smile with a wave as he pulls up. The phone beeps as Max hangs up when I get in the car.

"Hiya." Max chuckles.

"Hey."

Almost as soon as the car starts, my foot absentmindedly taps on the floor. "This one's good." I say, eventually- Probably half way to Kitty's house.

"Huh? "He says.

"This song? It's good." I repeat, watching the eucalyptus trees fly past outside.

"Oh yeah, it's a favourite of mine." He says, turning it up a bit. "Sorry for making you repeat that." he says, sheepishly.

"It's ok. What's on your mind?" I ask, leaning my elbow on the leathery centre console.

"It's just, we've only known each other for like- three days." Max says. "And those three days have been such a rollercoaster." He chuckles, shaking his head.

"Yeah. It's seriously crazy." God, why'd they have to be so vague? A little bit of context could've helped to make me feel a little less anxious. "Ahg!" The car jolts as Max swerves a little. One of my hands grips the handle above the door, the other's fingers digging into the leather of the seat.

"Ugh. I'm so sorry about that." He sighs. "There was a... Cat on the road." Max shakes his head embarrassedly. He glances towards me. "Are you okay?" He asks. "Do you need me to stop?"

My hand squeezes my chest. "Nah. I'm fine." I say breathily, "Uh, Nervous is all." My fingers untense and let go of my shirt.

"Ah- Well, What Kitty wants to tell you isn't a bad thing at all, and if you think it is... then you're not gonna be able to be friends with us." He shrugs his shoulders and grins evilly. "She's just excited. Three days has been long enough for her to trust you're a good person."

"Kitty didn't kill someone, Did she?"

I stand in fount of the bathroom mirror, after washing my hands. I splash water on my face, wiping it off with a tissue. I run my fingers through my hair, arranging the curls to look good. I look closely at my face in the mirror, stalling, but then I realize they might think I'm taking a massive dump with how long I'm taking.

My phone buzzes with a message, from Kitty.
'get out here, champ' she says.
I chuckle.
She sends a thumbs up emoji, then another message- this time from Max- 'You should get uot here soom, kittys going to burst lol.'
I smile then open the bathroom door with a sigh.

Their all sat on the long couch, one chair sat in front of them, presumably for me. "Is this a intervention?" I ask jokingly.

Kitty leans forward in her seat, impatiently. "Sit!"

-

My chest heaves, "Oh my god, Seriously? Why were you all so serious about this." I bend forwards, clutching my stomach as I laugh uncontrollably.

"Oi! It's serious to me! I had to make sure you where trustworthy first." Kitty hits my knee playfully.

"He thought you were going to admit to killing someone." Max adds, earning another laugh from Kitty.

"Seriously, Thanks for trusting me. Also, totally unfair. You have more game than me?" I poke out my tounge.

"Hey! It's totally deserved." She flips one of her two braids over her shoulder sassily.

"How about we go have some fun now?" Danny says, rubbing his hands together like a fly and picking up one of the switch controllers.

"Hell yeah!" We chorus.

A door creaks open somewhere in the house. "Hey, Katherine." Kitty says, urging her over.

Kitty's eyes sparkle as she screams with joy when her wife finishes first. "Eat that!" They fist bump each other.

I've never really had a crush- I haven't even had a real friend. As a child, and in high school too, I was known as the boy who couldn't keep his temper, and everyone around me was too scared to even approach me, even still... usually.

Luckily, my bad reputation kept me safe from bullies too, but it also stripped me of plenty of childhood experiences, which I never got to experience. Not only that, I was also the kid with no parents, even when I had Tanya.

I'd give anything to fall in love now, despite the fact I'm worried about not having experienced it in my earlier years.

My eyes blur as I stare at the tv, little carts zooming around. Someone says something to me, but I can't hear because my eyes droop shut and my head falls back onto the couch.
