I swallow the pills and wash it down with water as my phone rings.

I answer it. "I thought I told you to call me as soon as you wake up in the morning." She says.

"I forgot." I didn't.

"Of course." She says. "How was last night?"

"Not the worst."

I hear her sighing. "Anything new?"

"No, just the things I told you yesterday."

"Okay." She pauses for a moment and then says "Pay a visit at my house again today."

I scoff. "Why?"

"What do you think?"

"Stop beating around the bush, Corrine." I say. "Just tell me why?" I roll my eyes. "Is it something important?"

"It could be." She says and ends the call.

I let out a huff in annoyance but my mood isn't that bad today because I don't have a headache today, fortunately.

I turn around and walk out of the kitchen. Rose is sitting on the dining table. She is wearing a black turtleneck, a beige pleated skirk with a beige blazer on top.

My eyes linger on her hairs and the black bow tying them in half, the rest of the hair falling down her shoulders.

Look away.
I look away from her and walk out of the house.

I take a sip of my coffee and keep my eyes on the document. I'm reviewing some paperwork, there's still alot of work that needs to be done.

I can't collapse and let it affect work, no matter what's happening to me I need to focus.

There's a knock and I look up to see Rose coming inside. I raise an eyebrow. "I told you about Luke Grants, the vendor.."

"Yeah, what about it?" I look down at the document I'm holding before looking back at her.

"I've arranged a meeting with him on Thursday."

I nod. "You're responsible for all the dealings, okay?"

"I'll talk to him just by myself?" She asks.

"Yes, I would deal with other stuff in the meantime." I say.

She nods. "Okay.." My phone which is placed on my desk lights up.

I look at it, It's a text from Corrine. I close the phone and look up at her, she's glancing at my phone with her eyes slightly narrowed.

There's silence for a moment before she speaks "Devin.." I raise an eyebrow. "Where did you go last night?"

I clench my jaw as I remember going to her house. Why the hell is she asking?

"Nothing important..." I look down at the document in my hand.

She stays silent for moment before speaking "You were gone for more than an hour.." I look at her again.

"So?" I cross my eyebrows.

"Where were you?" Her jaw tightens.

"Why are you so concerned?" I put the document down on the table and lean back in my chair, crossing my arms.

"I'm not." She shakes her head slightly. "I was just curious about where could you possibly have gone after almost collapsing."

I narrow my eyes even more. "Don't get so curious about my life."

"I was just asking." She shrugs but I notice the tightness of her jaw.

"Is there any specific reason?" I ask and the way something sparks in her eyes doesn't go unnoticed by me.

She scoffs. "No." She says. "Of course not."

"Are you sure?" I raise an eyebrow. "You seemed kinda interested?"

"Oh, please." She rolls her eyes. "You're the last person I'm interested in." She turns to leave, my eyes linger on her hairs and the black bow on it till she walks out, closing the door after her.

She doesn't know, hopefully. She can't know where I went last night. One thing would lead to another and I don't want anyone to know about that.
