Chapter 27: Freedom

Red's POV

A/N alr ppl this chapter is a bit awkward don't judge but i think it came out...fine any way enjoy

We have just finished moving Max's body into the cell. He was lying on the bed. I would have left him on the floor, but Chloe insisted on putting him on the bed. It made me feel strange, but I chalked it up to her being a goody-goody. "So which door leads out?" Chloe asked curiously as I locked the door, leaving the keys on the table. "Well, the left door just leads to the room I was in, so I think the right door is the right way out," I said. Chloe gave me a small chuckle before we started towards the door. Opening it led down another hallway.

A/N i realize i make it sound like these hallways are like super long but there  just a bit bigger then normal

Chloe took my hand as we began our journey. After a minute, we reached a door to my left. I opened it slowly and found a sickeningly green room. "So this is the snake's room, huh," I said, feeling queasy. "Too green for me," I said, making a gagging motion. We closed the door and continued walking. Once again, we encountered another door. Opening it, we found ourselves in an apartment building. There was a door in front of us, and at the end of the hall, there was a staircase leading downstairs. I glanced back at Max's door and noted the number 247 before we headed to the stairs.

We exited the building, and it took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the sudden burst of light, which gave me a headache. "The Black Lagoon Inn," Chloe read off a sign in front of the building. "Hideouts, basements, and rooms for villains," I read the smaller print of the sign. We looked at each other. "We should probably go find a guard," Chloe said. I nodded, and we started heading into town. Walking down the street, we noticed almost everyone's eyes were on us, which unsettled me even more. When we turned a corner, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I swung around and punched the guy in the face. "Owww," he groaned. I glared at him, and then Chloe gasped, "OMG, Red, you just punched a royal guard!" I scoffed, "He should have known I would react." Chloe glared at me. "Fine," I said, putting my hands up in surrender.

"Are you okay, sir?" Chloe asked the guard. He nodded before turning to me. "You've got a strong punch, m'lady," I briefly nodded. "Can you inform me of your names, please?" he asked Chloe. It's probably best if I wasn't the one to tell that to a stranger. "I'm Chloe Charming, and this is Red of Hearts," she nodded towards me. The guard's eyes widened. "So that's why you look familiar. You've been on the news, and your parents are worried sick," I scoffed if only he knew. "Look, dude, we were just kidnapped, and we would like to get away from this place. It gives me the creeps," I said, glancing around. "That's understandable. If you don't mind following me, then we can get out of here," the guard said. Chloe nodded and started to follow him. I hesitated for a moment before following behind.

time skip there at Auradon  in Uma's office after following the guard (don't ask why we went here i just don't feel like describing ware ever the guards live)

We followed the guard through the halls and saw no one except for the patrolling guards. Soon, we reached Uma's office. As we walked in, I saw Uma in her chair looking at maps. The guard knocked on the door to alert Uma of our presence. Uma looked up, and as soon as she saw us, she ran over and gave Chloe an embrace before coming over to me. She put her hand out instead of a hug, which I appreciated. "I found them in the shady part of town. They say they were kidnapped," Uma's eyes widened. "Are you two girls okay? What happened?" Uma asked frantically. "Max happened," I said bitterly. "Max? Max Le Fay?" Uma asked, confused. Chloe nodded her head, determination in her eyes. "Where is Max?" Uma asked, still visibly confused. "We left him where he held us captive 'The Black Lagoon Inn,' room 247," she nodded. "Alright, you two start talking," Uma said, concerned. Chloe jumped into the explanation, talking about all the events but leaving out the kiss.

After Chloe finished her explanation, she took my hand as Uma said, "Thank you, Chloe." Then she turned to the guard, who was standing there stunned, and asked, "Can you and your men deal with Max?" He nodded before leaving. "What's going to happen to him?" Chloe asked concern in her voice. That same feeling came back to me. Why did she care what happened to Max? I pulled my hand away, earning a concerned look from Chloe. "That's up to your parents," Uma said before quickly changing the subject. "If you two want to head to your room, I can post a few guards outside the room, but feel free to freshen up," she said, smiling as Chloe and I exited to go find our room.

A/N Sorry ppl if this chapter was awkward or anything I'm not great with dialogue when it comes to uma so sorry for that but i hope you enjoyed the chapter I'm thinking 35 chapters will be the end but then soon after i'll post the first chapter of  a new book (should i do a prequel or sequel)
