Warning: This chapter is a bit darker than the rest, but not too bad, so don't worry. This is the big plot change, so I recommend reading it. Sorry for my grammar in this; I just did not have the energy to check every sentence. Also, when saying "because," I'll just use "BC" because it's shorter. Enjoy!
Chloe's POV
Red and I were walking down by the enchanted lake. Everything was so peaceful and quiet, occasionally broken by mine or Red's laugh. For once, I could tell it was a genuine, pure laugh. We walked like that for what seemed like hours. After some time, we went to the lake's edge, and the afternoon rays made the lake look like a beautiful crystal. As we gazed into each other's eyes, I could tell that Red was happy. The sense of loneliness and pain that always seemed to follow her was gone, replaced by pure happiness. I leaned in to kiss her, and I could tell she was about to do the same, but before we could meet in the middle, thunder boomed in the background, causing Red and me to jump. Suddenly, everything except Red and me became a black void.
I glanced towards Red and found her frozen, with a look of tranquility in her eyes. "Red, RED, RED!" I started yelling in panic, but she just stood there, petrified, as if time had stopped. I kept yelling out her name, but she didn't respond. I started tearing up when I heard a thunderous voice say, "That won't work. Here I thought you were smart." I looked around frantically, one eye still on Red, as I tried to see where the voice came from, trying not to let my voice crack. "Who are you, and do you have something to do with Red?" I asked with anger. The voice, which I could now identify as a man's voice, boomed again. "Haha, I guess you could say I have something to do with Red." "Then unfreeze her," I shouted. "I could, but why should I? She seems to be doing what's needed for once," his voice boomed in her ear. His words made my blood boil. I could hear thunder in the background, making me even more anxious. "Who are you?" I repeated my voice firm. "Haha," the voice laughed loudly, causing my ears to ring.
"Turn her back. She's not just a puppet to be played with," I growl. "Ah yes, but you are," I froze not because he made me, but because the way he said it scared me. "What do you want?" I asked, trying to keep my voice level, but I think he could tell I was afraid. "Whenever you hear me, whatever you're doing, stop and listen, then do. I'll tell you now, I don't like waiting," his voice sounded menacing, daring her to say no. "And why would I do that?" I shouted, getting mad. "Because if you don't, she'll pay."
As I heard a clap of thunder, a voice told me to turn around. When I did, I saw Red, looking peaceful, which made me smile. Then, there was another clap of thunder and Red's body moved back as if she had been struck by a powerful force. I tried to run to her, but I was unable to move as if glued to my spot, while another invisible blast hit her. It felt like time was slowing down as her body faced me. I caught a glimpse of the pure agonizing pain in her eyes, her face contorted in a grimace, holding back a scream. I wanted to look away, but I was forced to watch as Red continued to suffer until her body flopped to the floor with a defining thud her body laying motionless in the black void. Her eyes were dull, the pain still etched on her face. I heard another clap of thunder and ran to Red's lifeless body. {dont hate meh}
I was crying so hard I had just watched red dye in front of me. I had been so helpless to save her. I held her lifeless body, looking into her dull brown eyes, which no longer carried life but endless pain. Suddenly, a wave of anger hit me. Red's first 16 years of her life had been full of pain and suffering. She only had a month of happiness and love, and it had all been ripped away in a painful way. I kept gazing into her lifeless eyes as I heard the voice burst out with laughter. I ignored it; the only thing that mattered was Red.
"Why won't this nightmare end?" I thought as I heard the thunderous voice say my name, which sent shivers through my whole body. "Oh, Chloe," he paused to laugh. "Are you ready to listen now?" His voice carried so much hate and amusement. "AND WHY SHOULD I DO THAT?" I yelled with so much anger at him for hurting Red, and at myself for not being able to save her."YOU JUST KILLED RED WHY THE FUCK SHOULD I HELP YOU" I had never used a curse word. It felt refreshing." The voice began to laugh again. "WHAT'S SO FUNNY, HUH?" I yelled. "Tsk tsk tsk. Do you really think I would kill her now? You must be dumber than I thought," he said, letting my confusion sink in. "If I had killed her, there would be no way you'd help me," he continued. I continued to glare, my anger still rising. "I just showed you what would slowly happen if you didn't do what I asked, so you know for the future." I stared up, my mind racing as I slowly realized what he had said.
I grabbed my head in my hands, willing this nightmare to end. I heard him chuckle "This ends when I'm done with you" his voice stated menacingly "Now what do you say" His voice echoed in my head. I stared down at the red, seeing the pain and suffering she could go through. The pain in her eyes was too much for me, and I hoped she'd never have to see them again. I nod my head in defeat, my fist still balled. "Fine, what do you want?" I say, hatred running through my words. "I'll let you know when the time comes," I shudder - his laughter is the last thing I hear before I wake up.
A/N sorry if that chapter was so long. I hope you guys enjoyed it. I had fun writing it.and plz don't hate me for killing red like that. Sorry for the grammar mistakes. I'll post again soon. Have a good day, everyone!
