Chapter 40: Hurricane Bridget (PT 1)

A/N CHAPTER 40

Chloe's POV

I was barely paying attention to Uma's words, though I wish I was. Red's mother had let go of her grasp on Red, mindlessly wiping any traces of blood from her fingers. Meanwhile, Red was fidgeting with her fingers, as if what her mother did was nothing new, which it probably wasn't. Turning my remaining attention to Uma, I listened as she continued to talk about the year and all that had been accomplished (I'm not writing her speech because I have no clue what would be said at graduation two I'm lazy and three ur here for the action).

After a few minutes of peace, flipping sounds played in my ear (I don't know how to represent card noises), only to find that the Queen of Hearts was playing with her cards. By now, a few people were staring at her, as she was clearly interrupting. Uma's speech cut off as she was now fully annoyed. "Excuse me, do you mind?" Uma said, glaring at the Queen. Red's mother looked up at Uma with a look on her face that showed she did not care. "Actually, I do," she said calmly, standing up. I looked at Red, who seemed to have the same thought as me. 'This was exactly what happened before the Queen's first coup, the one we stopped. So that could only mean...'

As the Queen stood up, she started flicking her cards like shurikens. Every card that landed became a card soldier, and before you knew it, a coup had been started.(less dramatic ik but i haven't had them break out in song before why start now?)

I immediately stood up, Red quickly following, Uma and her pirates were already engaged in a fight with some soldiers. I could hear Bridget's evil cackling over the screaming parents and students who were cornered in the room, the doors being blocked. "Chloe, behind you!" Red shouted just in time. I turned and saw three card soldiers swiftly approaching me. Dodging to my right, I unsheathed my sword and clashed with one of them, hitting Melt with Melt. Glancing around, I noticed that Red was being dragged off by her mother.

Before I could react, the second soldier came at me. I quickly ducked to avoid his slash and backed up, swinging my blade left and right, trying to keep my head. Just as I was handling the second soldier, the third one joined in. It was a challenge to keep up, but I managed to hold my ground. If you think fighting three surprisingly skilled card soldiers is difficult, then you haven't experienced fighting twelve at once. That right TWELVE

As if that wasn't challenging enough, more and more soldiers were gathering around me. Every time I landed a blow, the injured soldier would retreat, only to be replaced by another one of his comrades within seconds. Between dodging and attacking, I noticed that about nine soldiers were keeping the innocent people at bay, while a small group held Uma and her pirates at sword point. The rest of the soldiers focused their attention on me.

To my left, Red was halfway up the stage, engaged in a heated argument with her mother. The longer this went on, the more my body ached. I didn't know how much longer I could keep the guards away. It was getting more and more difficult to dodge the attacks. It seemed that they had learned one attack at a time wouldn't work, so now there were five or so attacking me at once before the next wave had its fun. Aside from a few scratches and aching bones, I was fine,  the next thing I knew, I heard Red's voice yell, "-And I'm certainly not sentencing my girlfriend to death!" She shouted with so much anger bubbling in her. I paused after hearing what she said. Did the queen want her to kill me? I'm so stupid; I forgot I was in a 1v100. The moment I realized this was a moment too late. By now, a lucky soldier had knocked my sword out of my grasp, clattering to the floor as it skittered away. Before I could even react, I had a pile of soldiers surrounding me.

A/N Cliff hanger and the best part is that next chapter you wont lern what happened it will be like the 'lies on lies' chapter only it wont continue after bc well idk i wanna leave ya'll guessing...and yes I'm evil BTW sorry if it feels rushed
